Let Go Of Your Worry

Worry is so destructive that we cannot estimate the havoc and ruin wrought by it. It has caused many failures, many broken hearts, many blasted hopes, it has led many to their untimely graves.

No good has ever come to any person who worries. It has never given help to anybody to better his or her condition. Rather it impairs your health, exhausts your vitality, lessen your efficiency. Think of the homes which it has broken up; the ambitions it has ruined; the hopes and prospects it has blighted! Think of the suicide victims of this demon! Worry is one tool which the Devil uses to destroy our destinies.

In spite of all the tragic evils that follow in worrying, some of us carry on with it as if it is one of our dearest, most helpful friends, so closely do we hug it to ourselves and would not let go.
We persist in allowing little worries, trivial concerns, and unnecessary frictions to grind our lives away at such a fearful rate that old age stares us in the face in middle life.

There is a story told about a worrying woman who made a list of possible unfortunate events and happenings which she felt sure would come to pass and be disastrous to her happiness and welfare. The list was lost, and to her amazement, when she recovered it, a long time afterwards, she found that not a single unfortunate prediction in the whole catalogue of disasters had been realized.
Those of us who are prone to worrying should adopt this. Write down everything which you think is going to turn out badly, and then put the list aside. You will be surprised to see what a small percentage of the doleful things ever come to pass.

The bible tells us in Philippians 4:6-8:

“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”

Whatever is disturbing your peace, commit to God today let Him deal with it.

  1. If anyone had justification for worry it was Jesus. If ever anyone showed us how to choose to rely completely on His and Our Heavenly Father, it was Jesus. Thank you for your post and also thank you for stopping by hisnamebpraised and liking the post. Blessings to you Vincent and all who visit this site and read your words. Doug
