It Is Up To You

Do you find yourself doing things and making decisions because you think you had no choice? At every point in our lives, we had a choice. “God created us to be a people capable of making choices. And God has always given us the power of choice.”

In the Bible, Joshua told the Israelites:

“Choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your forefathers served beyond the river….But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.”

We’ve always had the power to choose, but the problem is that too often we forget we have a choice. Yet we make choices consciously and unconsciously all of our lives. We choose; when to sleep, when to get out of bed, what to wear, what to eat, where to go etc…unconsciously.

So what is it going to be for you: A positive attitude or a Negative attitude? Greatness or Mediocrity? Success or Failure? Wealth or Poverty? Health or Sickness? Better or Bitter? – It is up to you. “The paths of our lives take are largely determined by the choices we make every day.”

“Choice is the starting point to everything we do in life.” Bad things may happen to you, in fact bad things happen to everyone. You may make mistakes, you may get knocked down by hard times, but it is really up to you, whether you will remain down, or seek for ways to improve and change your condition, as Proverbs 18:15 advises; “Wise men and women are always learning, always listening for fresh insights.”

In the midst of life’s difficulties, you can CHOOSE to overcome, CHOOSE to “live your greatest life.” – It is up to you!

  1. A great post Vincent. Having a choice is a privilege – it is our blessing & our opportunity. It is one of the many ways that we take personal responsibility/accountability for our lives, our relationships…and our overall well-being.

Wishing you blessings & well-being in your endeavors. ~Storm

  2. Very encouraging words but can I throw a question at you? The bible. Talks alot about dependency on Christ in all things and even goes so far to call us servants of Christ. If Christ is leading, I may choose not to follow but ultimately the path is made by Christ and following is an a an act of obedience motivated by the spirit. I just find in my life so many times where I can choose not to follow but in following there is not really a choice, I am simply following Christ where He leads. Sorry, not so much a question, but what are your thoughts?

  3. Very encouraging words, but a thought. I keep finding in my lie that I can choose not to follow Christ but in my following of Him I am not really choosing so much as simply following where he leads in my everyday life situations. That can seem like a choice but ultimately either I am in Christ or not and if I am the choice of how to live has already been made by Him. What are your thoughts?
