What are You Believing?

You become what you believe. –Oprah Winfrey

This statement is true yet so many of us pay little attention to our thoughts and what we believe in our minds. Little wonder so many unpleasant things are happening in and around us.

Folks, it’s time we took control of our lives. “You become what you believe.” Like it or not, it is true. If you believe you would never amount to anything great, you won’t. if you believe your skin colour has placed a ceiling on your career achievement, you will never reach the top of your career, if you believe you can’t be rich, you will remain poor, if you believe you are never qualified for the great things of life, guess what you will always be left out of the big opportunities.

On the other hand if you believe, you can do all things through the Spirit that works in you, you will definitely break records and do impossible things. If you believe that, in spite your poor family background, you are going to be successful in life, guess what you will be successful.

Events, our environments, the people around us are only instruments that respond according to the thoughts we project. Stop blaming people, or circumstances for where you are right now – they only acted on your deepest desires. Take control of your life by controlling your thoughts. Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life. (Proverbs 4:23).

Knowing this now, what are you believing?

  1. I find this to be very true Vincent! That’s why it’s important that we watch with vigilance what we tell ourselves. Also, we can’t control what other people say but we can control if we believe them or not. Thanks for the great post!

    1. Thank you Vernon…You are right we can’t control what others say, but we can determine whether to believe them or not, and allow their words to affect our lives. Your thoughts are highly treasured on here. God bless you.

  2. Vincent, your blog speaks to me in a way I don’t need to explain since you’ve been on my site. I’m very happy to add you to one of my favourites. I’d like to encourage you to spread the word, keep writing, and inspiring others to live their lives to their potential. Love to you, A:)ex

  3. Your sentence “Take control of your life by controlling your thoughts” is key. Our mind is truly powerful and can allow us to accomplish incredible things but it is driven by our thoughts. You reap what you sow.

  4. Isn’t it ironic (and a bit sad) that we are more oft inspired by the Oprah’s of this world to “believe” … instead of the Bible, in which we are repeatedly told that if we will pursue Him, speak His Word over our circumstances, and do what He tells us to do, we will experience blessing and victory in every area of life. And lest anyone think I’m criticizing you, when I say “we”, I mean ME. It took ME a long time to get around to listening to what the Bible has to say about ‘believing’ in His Word for favor, blessing, prosperity, success, etc. And now I firmly understand that you DO become what you believe … because God’s Word says so! Don’t get me started, or I’ll spout off a dozen versus to prove it 🙂 So this year, I’m purposing to get my heart, mind, and mouth all into alignment with what the Word says, and I’m adding my “believing” (faith) to it, so that I can experience God’s best for my life. Thanks for the reminder to “believe” correctly this morning!

  5. Dear Vincent Egoro,
Very motivational. The next topic should revolve around putting thoughts int actions. I would like to read that one.

    God bless,

  6. Vincent,
I appreciate that you are working against the things that society tells us to crush our spirits. However, I would like to warn against the pursuit of wealth, which I have long been trying to overcome

“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
