“As children bring their broken toys with tears for us to mend,
I brought my broken dreams to God, because He was my Friend.
But then, instead of leaving Him in peace to work alone,
I hung around and tried to help with ways that were my own.
At last I snatched them back and cried, “How can You be so slow?”
“My child,” He said, “what could I do? You never did let go.” —UNKNOWN
A lot of us are like this. We go to God in prayers, and “cast our burdens” on Him one minute and the next we are out there handling it on our own. And when things turn out badly as surely as they will, we go back to Him complaining at how He wouldn’t answer our prayers and grant our desires.
There are still some of us who would go to our mentors and coaches for solution to some pressing challenges, yet we won’t trust them to be able to solve these issues. We don’t apply the principles and answers we are given. We always feel if we add a little bit of our own, we will get better results. But then why go to seek help if you got the answers all this while?
While it is good to take control of your life and actions, some of us are control freaks. We can’t find anyone better to do things the way we do them, we can’t trust others, and end up overworking our lives. Folks, lets learn how to surrender to God, and rely on Him to work things out for us. Instead of always trying to manipulate others, force our agenda on them, and always wanting to be in control, why don’t we try letting go? You see, sometimes instead of trying harder, and working harder, it’s better to trust more.
