Time to Turn Your Hopes into Faith

Every time I hear people say, oh “if I could just play football like Lionel Messi”, or “if I could just sing like Beyonce”, or “if I could be as rich as Dangote”, “if I was gifted with the skills of Mark Zuckerberg”… if I have these skill or that ability, what wouldn’t I do? But the question that often come to my mind each time I hear those words is, what have you done with the gifts and talents you have? Or didn’t God give you any talents?…Honestly? The world is full of so many people who are living in “wish land” or “hope land”. Everywhere you turn, you find people who wish they would be this or that, people who go about hoping for one sudden big break without putting in any effort. Folks nothing is ever achieved by mere hoping or wishing.

In fact we have hoped and wished enough, it’s time to act in faith. Everybody is always hoping for better things; the poor hope to get rich; the sick hope to get well; the sad hope to gain happiness; the troubled hope to find peace; everybody is hoping for something, but how many of us have the faith that is necessary to secure that something? When we pray to God; we hope that our prayers will be answered, and we are so absorbed in our hopes that we fail to recognize the answers to those prayers. Folks, “to have hope is to face the door, but hope stands still; it never moves towards the door. To live in hope is simply to face the great goal, but we may continue to face that goal for ages, and never move forward a step.”

Faith is all we need; faith gives us the conviction that our desires will be realized, and that we will accomplish everything we set out to do. Faith gives us the power to surmount the seemingly insurmountable. It gives us the courage to carry on even when all else fails. Agreed, “faith does not always produce the expected miracle at once ; it does not always convert a life of confusion sickness and failure into a life of happiness, harmony and abundance without much waiting and watching and prayer ; it does not always change a pathway of thorns into one of roses the very first day we begin to live by faith ; and it does not always remove every obstacle in a minute.” You may have to exercise your faith for months or even years before you realize the answers to your prayers, but nevertheless, faith never fails when we put it work on our goals. “Therefore, though you may not have results at once, nor even for some time, continue to work in the same unbounded faith; the results you desire will positively be gained; and the deeper and stronger your faith the sooner you will reach the object in view.”

  1. Vincent, you stated it so well.

Doing is an absolute requirement of success in anything. Faith is required to navigate the unseen obstacles of life. If one has God on their side and speaks to Him thru prayer, listens to Him through His teachings, faith grows, ones directions become clearer, and we remain focused daily thru those prayers. Faith is required in anything we attempt no matter where you have placed it! It’s just some places are better than others. Having the Creator of everything on one’s side is by far better than having faith in just one’s self.

  2. Hello and thank you for liking my blog. I am very encouraged by the truth you shared in “Time to Turn Your Hopes Into Faith”. Indeed, the wait for the manifestation of our faith is sometimes exceptionally long to us. But GOD is still GOD and He’s still faithful. HIS timing just differs from ours. Thanks for the encouragement. Keep on writing!

  3. We tend to forget that great verse of scripture, that the “three things” remain: faith, hope, and love. We can’t just have hope, there must be faith, too, faith that God has given us talents and abilities, too, faith that, if we trust in Him and look for what He has given us, rather than wishing we had what He has given someone else, we can accomplish amazing things. I used to be a complete wisher – and not just wishing for others’ abilities, but living in dream land. I had full faith that I could do so many things, and lived in that dream future, where all I hoped had been accomplished. But I did nothing to get there. It’s only recently that I’ve realized, that doing must be involved, that action must be taken. If you have the faith, and know what God has given you – ACT on it! Great stuff, Vincent.
