As a young boy in primary school, I was always asked by teachers in the various classes I progressed into, and by other adults (relatives or family friends) what I will like to be when I grow up. Then I would give them answers of things I fancied back then based on the books I read, or the people I regarded as my heroes….(every child wants be like the adults they loved. So please be good examples to kids)
Right now as an adult, I still hear people tell me what they will like to be, or aiming at becoming; you want to become a writer, actor, actress, speaker, preacher, Entrepreneur, and so on. While we have figured out what we want to be, many of us haven’t figured out what we have to do in order to be those things we desire.
It’s very crucial to know what you must do, just as the Bible tells us in Luke 14:28-32;
“Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Won’t you first sit down and estimate the cost to see if you have enough money to complete it? For if you lay the foundation and are not able to finish it, everyone who sees it will ridicule you, saying, ‘This person began to build and wasn’t able to finish.’ “Or suppose a king is about to go to war against another king. Won’t he first sit down and consider whether he is able with ten thousand men to oppose the one coming against him with twenty thousand? If he is not able, he will send a delegation while the other is still a long way off and will ask for terms of peace.
From this scripture, you see that while we must have desires, desires only aren’t enough. It is not enough for you to say you want to be a writer, Blogger, singer, Dancer, Entrepreneur, or Speaker. You have to want to do all the necessary difficult things that are required to support that goal. While you are honing your skill, you still need to survive, so are you willing to do other jobs in between? Are you willing to face the rejection from people who think you are unknown, and not good enough? Think on these things folks. Remember in order to become, you must be willing to do!
