What Does Failure Mean To You?

For some time now, I have been wearing a new hat; teaching kids in children Sunday School in my church. But honestly, I have been the pupil while the children have been teaching me.

I have some of the smartest kids I have met in my class. But like most children I know, the students don’t like failure. They enjoy winning, but never can stand being told they didn’t make the cut.

I was like them too when I was growing up, and seeing just how much such attitude have cost me in life, I try to always talk to them about the need to embrace failure, to understand that life is made up of a series of failures.

I have failed more times than most people I know. I failed three terms straight when I was in primary two. In fact one of an old classmate of mine met told someone who knew me recently that I was the dullest boy in our school then. I failed in secondary school; I couldn’t make my senior secondary school certificate examination in one sitting. And when I got into the university I capped it up by spending two extra years.

As a business man I have recorded many failures and losses. I have had failures in relationships. I have had failures in life, that made me wonder if I was cursed or being haunted by witches from my Village.

But as I look at my life right now I am thankful for the many failures I experienced, as they misdirected me towards my purpose and destiny.

Do you want to be great? Go and fail! Failure is the price for greatness. Failure is an essential ingredient for a high achievement. Only people who dare, who seek, ever fail and as a result find their way out.

In the bible we saw how Peter was the only man aside Jesus to walk on the sea because he had the courage to leave the boat. While others may say, he did drawn, but it is on record that he walked and his life changed forever. Folks the more risks you take in the pursuit of your dreams, the more you are going to fail, and the more you fail, the more you learn something that will lead you to success eventually.

Some of us because we are afraid of failure haven’t tried or done something new all our lives. Our lives are based on same routine day in and day out. If that is the case with you, I beg you to reconsider if you will ever achieve the high levels you desire in your heart.

“The best companies on the planet have failed more than the average ones. The most successful people on the planet have failed more than ordinary ones…Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did.”

Don’t let the future meet you living in regret. Live your greatest life!

    1. Wow! That’s a story. It’s amazing how God let’s enter difficulties only to use those same sad stories to heal other lives and empower us. Thanks so much for sharing.
