Times are hard. Almost every country globally is experiencing one form of economic challenge or the other. If you are going through some tough moments, yet you really want to achieve success, here are 4 practical strategies you can use to achieve success in your business/work:
1. Have something to give to the world that is worth giving, that the world wants:
Your success depends not just on your efforts and hard work, but on how people appreciate those efforts. Because no matter how good your work/products/service may be, if it isn’t appreciated your results will be limited. You will be wasting so much time and energy only to benefit no one, not even yourself.
In order to be appreciated, your goal must be to not give the kind of service/products/work you think the world should want, but to give that which you are convinced they want. Remember by seeking to please others with your services, you in turn please yourself. Make what you give so valuable that people will want to buy/pay for your services/products without much effort and persuasion from you.
2. Be determined to serve the world better in your niche than it was ever served before:
Whatever it is you do, know that it can always be done better, and know that that better can be done by you.
Do you find yourself in a situation where you are asking God why me?
Maybe you have lost your job, lost your marriage, desperately in need of cash, badly hurt from a failed relationship, your health is failing, or you seem to be going from one adversity to the other with no hope of a breakthrough.
Is that the case with you? Then it is you I am writing this message for.
You see in life adversity, setbacks, challenges, negative situations, can occur, and they do occur to everyone often without any advance warning, despite your preparation, careful planning, your faith and closeness to God.
If you are in that position, the question you will be asking is how do I come out of this situation? What do I do to get my life back on track? Can I still find love, get rich, become happy, get a job, rebuild my business, get my family back, regain my health…in spite of all what I have gone/going through? We need people in our lives. No one can make it alone that is why there has never been a rich hermit. But in order for you to become successful, to make your dreams come true and to live your greatest life, you must stay away from certain persons.
There are certain people who hinder others and make it harder for others to live. They are DISCOURAGERS. Instead of being wings to enable you fly, they are weights that will pull you down. They never have any positive, cheerful, hopeful word for anyone. Instead they always find a way to kill your spirits, kill your hopes, and put clouds into clear skies.
These individuals seem to think that it is a sin to be happy themselves, or to encourage happiness in others. They find all the shadows in life and persist in walking in them. They magnify small issues into big troubles.
These kind of people are always gloomy themselves and so they send out darkness and never brightness to others wherever they go. They make life harder for those they associate with or influence. Instead of comforting you, they make sorrows harder to bear, because they exaggerate it and blot out all the stars of hope that God has sent to shine in our world.
Most people complain that their everyday life isn’t interesting. Nothing special happens to them except on some special occasions where they have something to celebrate or mark. Their days are just so-so they claim.
Yet these individuals forget that life is measured and tested in the “everyday life”. Anybody can do well on special occasions. Anybody can do good on Sundays. Any person can be nice and sweet in the midst of gentle influences. Anybody can perform acts of heroism once or twice in their lifetime.
And all these is good, but you must realize that what you do with the ordinary days is the real measure of your life’s character and value. You cannot neglect your ordinary days and expect to have a great year. Often people say “I have had a bad year”, “I haven’t achieved anything worthwhile this year” etc, without realizing that it is 365 days that make a year, and when you don’t take care of those days, you will miss out of the year.
Nearly all the world’s best work is done in the ordinary days, the every days. Too many people have missed of their opportunities because they neglected the common tasks and assignment before them, while looking for big ones that will come on special days. Some time back, business took me to a rural community, where I met an older woman among the other people I had cause to interact with. This lady had a very compelling story that I still think about till this day.
The lady told me about her dreams; her dreams of freedom, about how she dreamed of life in the “big city”, where she will be rich building houses, owing cars, and having enough to give back to her community. I spent hours with her listening to her dreams…dreams she never chased.
Now in the city I meet many people too with dreams; with dreams of building big businesses, travelling round the world, being financially free, they talk about all the greatness they will achieve and when night comes, they sleep thinking they have achieved something…dreams.
Most of us are creative dreamers. We build cities and businesses, we paint pictures, do great things, all in obedience to an inner impulse. But the truth is, as long as we are content to enjoy the dream as a dream, we are slaves. Slaves to our thoughts and wishes.
