It is easy to find too many people complaining about a lack of resources, lack of opportunities to make money and become rich in life. Folks like that are always looking for help outside of themselves. They think out there, is where the inspiration and solution lies, but as John Milton tells us, “There is nothing that makes men rich and strong but that which they carry inside of them. Wealth is of the heart, not of the hand.” We can go a step further and say that wealth of the heart rightly expressed will ensure physical wealth.

The secret of all great folks is found in their vision hours. They create time intentionally to dream and visualize their desires. God told Abraham in the Bible, to visualize and dream about his future, and how big or small his vision will determine what God will grant him. I notice that too many people don’t have any vision for their lives, they don’t dream, they are just reality focused.

I remember visiting a resort, owned by a very wealthy individual. I had heard so much about the place and the owner but never met him. So during that trip, I decided to spend time in the resort’s chapel. On entering there, I was surprised to see an old man in his 80s already in there meditating and writing down his thoughts in a journal so early in the morning. Do You Have a Dream?

#

“The dreamers are the saviours of the world…Humanity cannot forget its dreamers; it cannot let their ideals fade and die; it lives in them, it knows them as the realities which it shall one day see and know.

The world we live in today is made beautiful by the dreams of people. Everything you see around today was once a dream; an idea conceived by someone at some time, in some place. Columbus had a dream of another world, and he discovered it. Copernicus had a dream of a multiplicity of worlds and a wider universe, and he revealed it. Steve Jobs and Bill Gates dreamed of personal computers, and they realized it. Nelson Mandela dreamed of a free Country, and he realized it. This list is endless.

Do you have a dream in your heart? Cherish it remain true to your dream and vision. “Cherish your dreams; cherish your ideals; cherish the music that stirs in your heart, the beauty that forms in your mind…for out of them will grow all delightful conditions…if you but remain true to them, your world will at last be built.” You see nature unfolds as a dream. Some of the most magnificent things in nature began as a dream; you were once a foetus; the bird was once an egg; the tree no matter how big, was once a seed. “Dreams are the seedlings of realities.” Keep dreaming! No matter how bleak your present circumstance may be, you can change it when you dream, and strive to reach it.

Dreams do come true. Yes your dream can come true, as long as it is not a mere wish. No matter who you are or where you are from, you will fall, remain, or rise with your dreams. You become as small as your dreams, or as great as your dreams – It’s time to start dreaming big. Continue reading Do You Have a Dream?

Let Nobody Stop You!

“A young house wife decides to take knitting lessons so she can knit sweaters, kaftans, and all sorts of things. She gets a book and the needles and yarn and starts to learn the simplest knitting steps, full of visions of brightly coloured mittens and clothes. Then her husband comes home from work and tells her how hard it is to knit, how she’ll have to work years to be any good at it, how many women have started and quit. He gives her one of those patented, patronizing smiles that says, “You will never learn to knit very well you poor thing.” And before he has left the room she is believing more in his cynicism than in her faith.”

Folks this story represents the various scenarios that take place in our lives at one point or the other when we set out to realize our dream. You see the major reason why so many of us let our dreams die – unrealized, and unlived is because of the negative, sarcastic, and cynical attitudes of other people – especially our friends, family, colleagues etc. You have a dream, and seek out a friend, or family member for advice and instead of them helping you out positively, they release a “foot-long” list of all the obstacles, and reasons why you will fail, why you shouldn’t pursue your dreams. You leave them feeling so unmotivated, sick, and foolish for ever conceiving such ideas or dreams. Continue reading Let Nobody Stop You!

Do Small Things In A Great Way

Some of us our notion of greatness is that the only individuals who qualify as great men and women are the big stars, the heads of nations and corporations, people who oversee large congregations, top motivational speakers and bestselling authors who speak before sold out crowds. Yes these are great people, but you don’t have to be big to be great.

Right where you are, there are truly great individuals who are unknown to the world, but they are great. Greatness isn’t defined by the number of followership you have, or by the crowds you talk to or lead. Every one of us can be great just by living our small lives in a great way.

The story of creation in the Bible tells us that God made two lights: the greater lights and the lesser light. The greater light being the Sun, while the lesser light is the Moon and the Stars. You see, “not all of us will be the sun; not all of us will be the moon. Some will be the sun. Some will be the moon. Some will even be the stars. But we must remember that it was God who set each in its place, to serve its specific function.” – Mensa Otabil

Do not wait for the world stage, the big opportunity, the large followers, before you live a great life. You can start being great right where you are today in your home, in your office, in your school, on the street, everywhere. You can begin to make yourself known as great, by doing everything you do in a great way. The Bible says tells us that whatever your hands find to do, do it with all your heart as unto the Lord not unto men.

Folks put all of your being into what you do no matter how small or commonplace it is. Let your light so shine; reveal it to your family, your friends, neighbours and every one that comes in contact with you. Show the world your greatness by living your everyday life in a great way. Be so just, so generous, so courteous, and kind that your family, your husband, your wife, your children, brothers, sisters, colleagues, and friends would know just how great you are. Greatness starts within.

Live your greatest life!

Take Action

There is a story in the Bible gospel of John, about a pool by the sheep gate in Jerusalem where an Angel comes in periodically to stir the water, and any person that enters into the pool first after the angel’s action was healed of his or her diseases.

Around this pool were gathered so many people with diverse afflictions, all waiting for the angel, and to get into the water. Among these group was a particular man who had been sick for thirty eight years, and had been waiting along with the others for an opportunity to get into the pool. Now it so happened that Jesus passed along that way one day, and seeing the man, He asked him; “Do you want to be made well?” But our man instead of answering the question directly, reeled out so many excuses why he was still lying down there – He told Jesus how didn’t have any family member or friend to assist him get into the pool, and so on.

You see like that man, there are so many of us who just wait. We sit around, we are where we are because we are waiting for the world to give us a chance. I hear and see it around me all the time; “oh if only I had a rich Dad or Uncle, I wouldn’t be here at this level”; “I am here because nobody wants to help me out.” Folks, the world have never given anyone a chance. Think of the big names we hear of today. The many great men and women who are reshaping our world today got where they are through their imagination, self-confidence, initiative and hard work.

It doesn’t matter how highly educated you are, whether you got first class degree from the Ivy League universities around, your education is worth nothing to you and the world if you don’t take action. Life requires you to take action. When Jesus got to heal that man, He asked him to take action: “Arise, take your bed and walk.” It’s the same thing we ought to do if we are to live our greatest lives.

Rise up from your complains, excuses, fears, worries, doubts…and WALK. Enough of your victim stories – Take Action. “Take responsibility for your own happiness and success. Your friends and family may reach out to you in times of need. Be grateful for that, welcome their efforts, but keep pushing on your own too. The more efforts you put in, the more opportunities you create.” – Nick Vujicic

No Standing Still

“He who is silent is forgotten; He who does not advance falls back; He who stops is overwhelmed, distanced, crushed; He who ceases to become greater, becomes smaller; He who leaves off gives up; the stationary is the beginning of the end – it precedes death; to live is to achieve, to will without ceasing. – Orison S. Marden

Keep moving. Keep pushing towards your dreams. Whatever it is you want to achieve this year, you can start by taking the first step, then the second…the third and so on till you get to your destination – “The journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step”.

A lot of us are where we are today, far from our goals because we are waiting for the conditions to be perfect. We want a perfect day, perfect time, perfect opportunity, clear chance…to do what we intend to do. We forget that conditions are never perfect for anything. Just as the Bible says in Ecclesiastes 11:4; “He who observes the wind (and waits for the conditions to be favourable) will not sow, and he who regards the clouds will not reap.”

You see when I started out to write this blog, so many things were against me, it was as if I was already set up to fail. First, I am not a professional writer, I trained as an Architect. Putting up the blog, choosing the themes and all other stuff was a huge challenge for me..but I just had to start. Next came the “Doubting Thomases” around me, who didn’t believe in my vision. They began to show me my limitations, the things I had failed at in the past and so on. But I didn’t allow all that to deter me. As God helped me, I learnt along the way, from the mistakes I make, and so far the journey has been incredible.

Folks, never put off the pursuit of your dreams because of challenges. Everyone who has succeeded at anything in life, didn’t do so without obstacles, but they surmounted them. In the race of life, there is no standing still, or you will be knocked down.

Do you have a dream? Has God placed something in your heart to do? As Jeff Moore says; “Just get started” and the dots would connect along the way. Folks the best way to learn how to run, is to run. The best way to learn how to swim is to swim. The best way to learn how to sing is to sing. The best way to learn how to talk is to talk. The best way to learn how to do anything is to do it. “You don’t have to be great to get started, but you have to get started to be great.” – Les Brown

Rise Above Your Limitations

Many of us have been trained from infancy to think small thoughts. Our minds have been saturated with the thoughts of poverty, lack, scarcity, limitations etc. And if you are from, or live in my part of the world, then you hear talks of poverty and limitation from morning till night, you see poverty-stricken conditions everywhere. Everybody around is talking limitation, scarcity, lack, diseases, failure. Little wonder there is so much lack and want around.

Folks, let’s break this bond. Do not repeat the poverty and limiting conditions of your parents, families, and environments. It starts with the belief, with developing a positive mental attitude. No matter how black the outlook or how rusty your environment is, positively refuse to see anything that is unfavourable to you. Refuse to see the obstacles. Refuse to see any condition which wants to enslave you, and keep you from rising above your environment, and keep you from living your greatest life!

Remember, “The man who is bound to win, believes he is going to be prosperous; he starts with the understanding with himself that he is going to be a successful man. A winner and not a loser.”

Have faith. The Bible says; “…Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘move from here to there’, and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” – Matthew 17:20
