Don’t Start if You Won’t Finish!

The bible says, “better is the end of a thing than its beginning….” Consider that statement and think why will the bible say that, when beginnings are always celebrated in our world? It’s common to find people celebrate their beginning of a blog, their beginning of an exercise class, their business start up, and you look for these individuals some months, years later and you don’t find them.

The author of that bible portion clearly understands that it is not enough to begin a journey; you must continue it. Mere enrolment into school or an academic program doesn’t make one a scholar; the student must continue in the school through the long course until he/she masters every aspect of the program. Success depends on the staying power. The reason for failure in most cases is lack of perseverance. We quit too soon.

Too often you hear people complain that their business or career is a failure simply because they didn’t have the immediate riches or fame they had expected, and you find them leaving one occupation or business to another that looks more promising.

This is very common in network marketing business. People don’t want to put in the time required to get the results. They are always jumping from one company to another, and in most cases the new business isn’t more satisfactory than the previous one, and it in turn gives way for another. Most of us are in wrong places in our lives; wrong jobs, wrong careers, wrong courses of study, wrong businesses, wrong churches, wrong neighbourhoods, wrong marriages/relationships. I mean you thought you have found it, only to discover you are a square peg in a round hole.

Maybe you are in that job, business, relationship, school etc because of circumstances or maybe it was your parent’s fault, who decided to train you in the way they ought to go instead of the way you should go. But whatever is the reason why you are in the wrong place in life, the result is always the same – struggles, unhappiness, and ultimately failure.

Every one of us is created with some unique gifts that match a particular field, to be in a certain kind of relationship and if you are out of your place, you may end up struggling all through life. So if you know within you that you don’t fit in where you are, have the courage to move out and head towards your right place. I know you may have invested time, money, and energy but truth is, it is better now. Continue reading Square Peg In a Round Hole? Read This!

Look Inside That Obstacle For Opportunity

look inside that adversity is an opportunityAre you faced with an obstacle or challenge and you are confused on what to do or what decision to make and so your life is completely enveloped in discouragement, disappointment and the failure or your plans?

Friends, obstacles and challenges are part of life, as everyone no matter how highly spiritual or full of faith can have a life without difficulties and challenges of some sort. But the good news is that they are never permanent however hurting or destructive they may seem.

Unfortunately so many people have been held back because of the obstacles on their paths. Are you one of those? What is holding you back? Is it the physical? – your size, age, height, distance, disability, money. Or is it mental? – Fear, uncertainty, inexperience, prejudice, education. Or is it spiritual? – Bewitchment, Devil, evil manipulations etc.

Perhaps people don’t take you seriously, or you think you are too old or too young ,or you lack support and resources, or the laws and regulations restrict your options, or obligations and responsibilities, or your false goals and self doubts. Success by Luck?

Most of us believe the wrong stories about how to become successful. We are buying into these lies like; “you don’t need to work so hard”, “you need fortune or good luck to smile on you” “just stay positive, pray and believe” and so on and you will become successful. I guess that’s one of the reasons why so many youths have given into playing the lottery to get rich.

Agreed there is a certain amount of randomness to life, but more often success and failure are all about making choices and repeating them most of the time. Our society always like to use certain labels to describe successful people, we are told they got lucky, they had a miracle, they didn’t work that had, they just prayed and believed but while all that may be true, successful people didn’t just do only that, they made good choices and decisions.

Unfortunately today many of us are not willing make the right choices and decisions yet we want to be successful. We consider the right choices as being too difficult a sacrifice to pay now. Many of us are not willing to delay gratification; if come across little money, all we think about is how to spend it. Successful people understand that they have to spend their time on things that matter, always focusing on their dreams and goals. They face their responsibilities and hold themselves accountable. They are always willing to step out of their comfort zones and face their fears even when it will be much easier to stay where they feel safe. Continue reading Success by Luck?

What’s Wrong With Beginning Small?

These days it’s all about “bigness.” Everyone one talks about big dreams; big ideas; big goals. We are always told to admire and model our lives after those people who conceive great ideas and successfully bring them to reality. Every young lady dreams of marrying or dating some rich man. Every young man thinks in millions and billions.

While nothing absolutely is wrong with such thinking anyway, many of us who are so engrossed in the thinking and talking big fail to consider the small things that make great things or a great life possible. The fact is we cannot all think in millions, and we cannot all aspire to vast achievements. But this is no reason why we should despise ourselves or look down upon ourselves because our daily work and our life may not be doing great things.

Are you doing small work? Are you earning little pay compared to others you know? Friends don’t let that discourage or sadden you.  Thank God you at least have something small to do. Whatever your hands find to do however small it may seem, is important before God. The bible commands, “Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might…” “If you have a little garden, it is not un-worthy of your care and attention to make it bright with flowers for the joy of your family and your friends. If you live in a small house, you can be proud of that house if it is a perfect home in miniature.” Continue reading What’s Wrong With Beginning Small?

The Value In Small Beginnings

“Do not despise these small beginnings, for the LORD rejoices to see the work begin..” – Zechariah 4:10.

All life comes from small beginnings. In nature there is nothing small.

Every day is a little life; and our whole life repeated daily.
Do not dare lose a day. Do not dare misspend it.

Happiness in life is derived from little things, most of them intangible; Little courtesy, little kindness, pleasant words, genial smiles, a friendly message, good wishes, and good deeds.

Small things become great when a great soul sees them.

The Power Of No

3981246169_10c7a535b5
‘NO’ is a very powerful word, yet we often find it hard to say no to everybody’s request. Personally I have struggled with this. I find myself saying yes to things I should be saying no to. I am sure you too have had a time too when you should say no, but ended up saying yes.

Why do we find it so difficult to say no to everybody’s request, even when saying yes to someone else often means saying no to a better relationship, a healthier body, and a more successful life.
What are we afraid of when we say no? Successful people say no all the time – to projects, to crazy deadlines, to questionable priorities, and to other people’s crisis. In fact they view the decision to say no as equally acceptable as the decision to say yes.

Saying no can help us get what we want, in unfulfilling relationships, businesses, careers etc. yet many of us wouldn’t say it, we would rather be tactful, opting for phrases like, “I don’t know”, “maybe later”, “I will call you later”, “I will call you”, or I need some time. Folks few people can get angry at you for making and standing on the commitment of saying no when it conflicts with your priorities and values. In fact they will come to respect you for your strength and commitment.Make that commitment today, to say NO to whatever isn’t working for you – in your relationships, career, business, health, dreams etc. When you do this you will discover in the process that your life would be more fulfilled.
