How to Deal with a Challenging Life

Most of us think of the wonderful things we would do if we could only get rid of the worries, the annoyances, the disturbances that prick us day by day, as well as the things that defeat our ambitions – the failures, the disappointments, the heartbreaks, the blunders, the setbacks that continually tend to befall us and discourage us.

Yet the real test of our strength is whether we will fulfil our purposes; carry out our life plan and become successful in spite of all the things that are apparently trying to hold us down, or, whether we will allow ourselves to be overcome by the hindrances that slow the steps of everyone going after their dreams.

For how long will you whine and carry a long, sad face giving the world the impression that your life has been full of disappointments? For how long will you keep telling your woe stories, that you haven’t achieved your goals because of the setbacks that you have experienced this year?

For how long are you going to let your troubles and trials, challenges and annoyances which happen to every career and everyone, keep you down? For how long will you keep allowing disappointments and failures to worry and devitalize you that you cannot do the biggest thing possible to you? Are you going to be a victim of your troubles and trials in spite of your divine possibilities? Continue reading How to Deal with a Challenging Life

Do you find yourself in a situation where you are asking God why me?

Maybe you have lost your job, lost your marriage, desperately in need of cash, badly hurt from a failed relationship, your health is failing, or you seem to be going from one adversity to the other with no hope of a breakthrough.

Is that the case with you? Then it is you I am writing this message for.

You see in life adversity, setbacks, challenges, negative situations, can occur, and they do occur to everyone often without any advance warning, despite your preparation, careful planning, your faith and closeness to God.

If you are in that position, the question you will be asking is how do I come out of this situation? What do I do to get my life back on track? Can I still find love, get rich, become happy, get a job, rebuild my business, get my family back, regain my health…in spite of all what I have gone/going through? How Are We to Think About The Difficulties We Meet in Life?

Most people regard the difficulties they encounter as great misfortunes, and they are right. But that isn’t completely true about difficulties, that aren’t the only way to see them. In fact there is a better way to think about difficulties.

Difficulties are often, when rightly used, often great blessings in disguise. And this is how you should always see and think about them. Most people complain about having to meet with difficulties in their start-ups, relationships, or early years in marriage. But on the contrary they ought to be thankful.

Because every difficult we face cause us to think outside the box, enables us to reach for that part of our minds that we have allowed to grow weeds, spur us to travail, become more resilient and resourceful.

Think about those giant trees in your parks, like that giant oak tree or any other tree that has been standing since when you were a little kid going to school or playing with your friends. The tree hasn’t lasted this long, grown that big and strong just because the ground was fertile, NO! Continue reading How Are We to Think About The Difficulties We Meet in Life?

Do You Wish Life Was Easier? Here’s Why You Shouldn’t

Who doesn’t want an easy life? I think most people do. I do. There are some days when I honestly which life can be easy always, but I know that the easiest things are not always the best things. Or as a saying goes, “nothing good comes easy.”

Usually in life you have to pay a price for anything good that is worth its value. In our markets, things are valued based on their cost. If something is sold cheap when it isn’t an auction or on sale, it often means that the value isn’t much.

Our success in life is rated this way too. If success comes to you easily without any cost of effort or sacrifice, its value to us isn’t much and we lose it the same way we acquired it. But if we acquired it through self-denial, tears, much effort and pain, we will do everything we can to make sure we stay successful.

Folks life is full of grind. Grinding begins from childhood. From the moment you learn to speak, there is school for you with its set hours, its lessons, rules, tables, tasks, recitations. Then, when you grow up, instead of getting away from this bondage of routine, this grinding, it goes on just as in childhood.

Some of you have to rise at the same hour every morning, and hurrying away to work and doing the same things over and over, six days in the week, fifty-two weeks in the year, and on and on unto life’s end. For most people there is almost no break in the monotonous rounds of their days through the long years. Continue reading Do You Wish Life Was Easier? Here’s Why You Shouldn’t

There’s Always Something to Be Thankful For

One of the best things I learned as a Child of God is giving thanks to God for all things and in every situation whether it is positive or negative. But I have discovered that for most people thanking God for the good things is so easy. When good things happen to you, when good times come, you rejoice and celebrate, but that seldom is the case when you are hit by adversity or some misfortune.

A guy once said to me once, “why should I rejoice and be thankful when bad things happen to me? I ought to be sad, and complaining, so that maybe I can get help somehow.” Unfortunately he isn’t alone with that mindset, because that’s just what most people do; they cry, whine, talk or complain about their adversities and setbacks.

One of my favourite scriptures says, “all things work together for good to them that love God.” No matter how bad I am hit by difficulties and adversity, I believe that in the end something good will come out of the situation. Secondly, from experience I know that things don’t always end up as bad as they seem at first. Sometimes we react based on the information we receive, only to realize later that it wasn’t as terrible as it was reported. Continue reading There’s Always Something to Be Thankful For

Rise Above Your Setbacks

6076393459_f7433bf0db_bMany people look at me now and think I have always had an easy life. Some folks from the same poor community I am from think maybe I never knew suffering. But the reality is I have seen much more suffering that many people ever imagine. I wasn’t born with a silver spoon or with any spoon at all. The story of my life begins at my birth in a yam barn – imagine that!

As a kid I have been shoeless and shirtless like many village kids. Of course I have tasted the good life also growing up, but the part of my life that is laced with struggles and sufferings are more than that section that was filled with the good.

Stop giving in to your circumstances. Your challenges and circumstances don’t define you, it is how you choose to react or respond to them that determines where you end up in life. I attended village schools, I experienced delays in finishing both my secondary and university education, but I never let those delays held me back.

Don’t Let Life Break You

A friend shared a story about the oak tree and the wind with me recently, and it has so many life lessons we all can learn from so I have decided to share with you also; A mighty wind blew night and day. It stole the oak tree’s leaves away. Then snapped its boughs and pulled its bark, until the oak was tired and stark. But still the oak tree held its ground, while other trees fell all around. The weary wind gave up and spoke, “How can you still be standing, Mister Oak?” The oak tree said, “I know that you can break each branch of mine in two, carry every leaf away, shake my limbs, and make me sway. But I have roots stretched in the earth, growing stronger and stronger since my birth. You’ll never touch them, for you see, they are the very deepest part of me. Until today, I was not sure, of just how much I could endure. But now I’ve found, with thanks to you, I’m so much stronger than I ever knew!” Continue reading Don’t Let Life Break You
