722580268_ebb485640f_mBlaine Athorn shared this analogy of life in one of his events; “Life is like walking down a road. Sometimes in life, there are going to be people on one side of the road throwing stones, and there are going to be people on the other side throwing sticks. If you walk down the middle of that road, you will be hit with stones and sticks. Sometimes in life you have to stand up for what is right because if you walk down the middle of the road, no one will respect you”.
There are times in life when we have to stand up for what we know in our moral compass is right. So when somebody else is getting wronged, when somebody else is doing something that isn’t right, you tell them this isn’t the right thing to do and I won’t participate. If we want to be successful we have to have integrity. If it is wrong, it is wrong. Integrity means honesty and truth. William Shakespeare wrote, “And this above all, to thine own self be true, and it must follow as the night the day thou canst not be false to any man”. If you are true to yourself you will not be false to anyone else.
Success in life requires dealing with people, and people can only deal with you if they trust you. People love and value men and women of integrity with a sense of humour, kindness and gentleness. As Shakespeare said let us be true to our self, let us try as best as we can to know ourselves, to take a true inventory of our abilities, talents, what we want, our goals. Discover what course of life will fulfil your powers completely. Discovering all these is being true to ourselves. That is integrity. Successful people have discovered themselves, they know what they want and follow their strongest suit. They do what they can do with all that is in them. They do not go with the flow – they are true! They recognize that honesty is good business, honesty is the best means of getting rich.
It may seem like people can gain success and money quickly if they are willing cut corners and act without their compass of morality. While dishonesty may provide instant gratification in the moment, it never lasts. Yes there are people out there without integrity who succeed and acquire power without ever getting caught, and this creates a false perception of the path to success for us to follow. These individuals may have gained momentarily success, but the truth is it is a high price to pay, as the consequences outweigh the gains. Those persons have lost their integrity and the ability to be trusted by friends. “Profit in dollars or power is temporary, but profit in a network of people who trust you as a person of integrity is forever.”
In this life that we have it is important to define what our moral compass is. What is that code that we would live by and stand true to? “The greatest ignorance of all is the mistaken belief that we can ever receive more than we truly earn. Sooner or later there will be an accounting” Paul in the letter to the Galatians wrote; “Be not deceived God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows.” Life can only return to us what we sow. Right now you have great great wealth; you can think, you have talent, and you have time, sow them as seeds. And when days come when you find yourself depressed or confused remember the words of Dean Briggs, “Do your work, not just your work and no more but a little more for lavishing sake, that little more that is worth all the rest, and if you suffer as you must and if you doubt as you must, do your work, put your heart into it and then out of your very doubt will be born the supreme joy of life”.

We all want to have good relationships in our lives; we want friendships that matter, we want family life that is fulfilling, wonderful and exciting. To achieve this we need the right people in our lives.
Here are four specific reasons why we need the right people:
1- We need the right people because the right people connect us to life. They connect us to the power and energy of human living, they connect us to the positive live energy of other people. So we need relationships, we need friendships that are mutually beneficial. There is no easier or more effective way to fill the gap between where you are and where we want to be than having the right people on our side.

2- The right people fulfil the needs of our hearts. We all know what it is like to feel empty, to go through the motions of life and not have a true friend or a soul mate, so the right people when found will create fulfilment of the heart, and eliminate of the loneliness we fee inside, and the connect us on a deeper level.

3- The right people expand who we are; they expand who we can become. Take a look at your life right now, and ask yourself if as a result the relationships you have, you have grown mentally, spiritually, and economically. What new things have you learnt? How have you changed? This will help you determine if you need more of that.

4- The people in our lives can help us attain our God given purpose. This is such a vital element of life because God has a purpose for everyone. You need to be around people who will be proud of your faith in God, and what God wants us to be. Remember you are so vital to God.
The people around you dictate your success. They can also forecast your failure.

As I listened to Olivia Newton-John’s song “Let go and let God” on my music player, I just could not help but think of the people out there who are still struggling with the pains of a loss of a loved one, divorce, broken relationship, loss of job or business, etc.

Or maybe yours is not loss, maybe you are struggling to hang on to something that is not working anymore, maybe your relationship is becoming frustrating by the day, your job is no longer fulfilling, your kids are not doing well, or something else.

Life may seem to be cruel sometimes, especially when the waves of life tosses us about, and leaves us with little or nothing to hold on to, in these moments most people just do not know how to handle life anymore. They get stuck in the past whining and complaining about these circumstances, and refusing to move on. The world does not stand still, it is changing. Just because something was not right for you in the past doesn’t mean it is still wrong.

Learn to let go folks. “Some people believe holding on and hanging in there are signs of great strength. However, there are times when it takes much more strength to know when to let go and then do it.” ―Ann Landers.
Holding on and hanging onto the pains of loss or setbacks in life is like believing that life is made only of the past.

Letting go means believing and knowing that there is a brighter future ahead. How many times have we allowed temporary defeats and setbacks to affect us as if they were permanent failures, instead of learning from it and moving on? Think about what Paul said in his letter to the Romans when he wrote “And we know all things work together for good to those who love God…”instead of holding on to the pains, dust yourself up and move on knowing that things will work out for your good.

The major factor why people find it difficult to let go is FEAR. Fear is holding some of us back, and keeping us forever behind and in pains. Fear brings hate, poor self-esteem, feelings of unworthiness, loneliness, laziness, and the likes. Below are some of the fears keeping us from letting go;

#1 Fear of the Unknown; Thoughts of past pains and mistakes makes you miserable, you feel it is known and know what to expect from the past. The future on the other hand is unknown, scary, unpredictable and difficult to plan for. This thought has kept so many people down and prevents them from moving on and experiencing new life.

#2 Fear of Making Mistakes; some people are afraid of letting go because they do not want to make mistakes. They feel they are incapable of getting things right, so remain fixed to a spot. We fail to realize that everyone who has ever risen above their travails in life made lots of mistakes along the way. Mistakes should be welcomed because it is the only way we learn and grow. How can you ever know success if you don’t know what failure is?

#3 Fear of Losing Relationships or Other Things You Value; many individuals fear that if they embrace the future and let go of their past and pains, they will lose their relationships, family members and other things they treasure. Truth is letting go allows your true friends and gifts to manifest. Of course you will lose some friends, but that is part of the process, and you have to realize that anyone or anything you lose isn’t meant to be in your life as you seek to move on. This opens doors for better and higher relationships in your life. The circumstance and decision to move on will reveal who your true friends are.

#1 Forgiveness; “forgiveness isn’t something you do for someone else; it is something you do for yourself. When we choose not to forgive we carry the burden of whatever wrong was done against/towards us.” An important factor in the process of letting go is to forgive every event or person that has hurt us, because when we do not we pull ourselves down, and help spread the poison around our lives.

#2 Leave your Comfort Zone; letting go of events, words, people, habits that don’t serve us is a difficult thing for most people to do. In-order to grow one must leave the familiar behind and face the unfamiliar. You must make a conscious deliberate effort of making the uncomfortable, become comfortable for you, and this is done by facing the fear of the unknown. Realize that fear is something made up by your mind to keep you bound, and in fact most of the things we fear do not even exist in reality.

#3 Take Full Control of Your Life; no one else is responsible for yourself but you. Some of us have bought into the lie that other people example our parents, friends, teachers, pastors, lovers, partners, children and every other person but us is responsible for the way our life has been up till this moment. This is a great lie! Accept responsibility of your life, change the way you think and see yourself. If you ever want to let go and move on, you have to do it yourself. Stop playing the victim.

#4 Focus on Today; today is the greatest gift you have that is why it is called the PRESENT. The past has moved on and already forgotten you, so why are you still living it? Decide right now that the past events will not hold you back anymore, pick out the lessons from it and focus on what to do next. Take positive steps toward having your life back. Begin today and take that first step towards letting go, and your future would unravel as you go.

#5 Let God Deal with it; just as Olivia Newton-John’s song said, “Let go and let God”; “when you cannot find your direction and your heart won’t guide you home “Let Go Let God”. When your dreams are broken in the dust and you’ve lost the will to trust “Let Go Let God”…When faiths is a dying fire and there is no spark to feed the flame “Let Go and Let God”. When your courage fails you and the well of hope runs dry “Let Go and Let God”…… Folks you have to let God deal with it. We may not know how to handle the pains and brokenness, but He sure does, and is willing. Christ said; “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke…..for my yoke is easy and my burden is light”. Matthew 11:28-30

Marcus Aurelius Antonius, Roman emperor and philosopher said “ The world in which we live is determined by our thoughts”. Ralph Waldo Emerson also said “A man is what he thinks about all day long”.
Often we imagine our circumstances as being separate from ourselves, but they are in fact intimately related to our thoughts. Nothing appears without an adequate cause, nothing is fated, everything is formed. Happiness in life depends upon the kind of thoughts we think. It is impossible to be happy when we think unhappy thoughts. Our mind is like a fertile soil that will grow what ever thought- seeds planted in them. If you plant into your mind thoughts of fear, you will get out fear as rewards, if you plant into your mind thoughts of failure you will get circumstances that lead to failure.
Every great life is a result of great thoughts, and the most positive of thoughts are those stated in the Bible. Condition your mind for greatness by reading and meditating these powerful positive Bible verses adapted from Dr. Norman Vincent Peale’s “Thought Conditioners”. Memorize each verse and the message given with each and let them add happiness and greatness into your life.

 The things, which are impossible with men are possible with God. —Luke 18:27

This text shows how to do an “impossible” thing. Size up your problem, pray about it, do all you can about it. If it seems impossible, don’t give up, but affirm, “The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.” Keep relaxed. Don’t worry. Avoid getting panicky. Never think, “This can’t be done.” Declare, “It can be done, it is being done because God is doing it through me.” Affirm that the process is in operation. The final outcome may not be entirely what you now desire. But, handled in this manner, the solution will be what God wants it to be.

 Come unto Me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. —Matthew 11:28

Perhaps the strain and burden of life have made you tired. If so, maybe you are carrying life too heavily. Primarily, we do not get tired in our muscles but in our minds. We develop that “I’m swamped” feeling. Allow this text to dissolve in your thoughts as a kind of spiritual lozenge. As you turn to Jesus in your thoughts, He will give you rest. And how does He do that? One way is by showing you how to work. “Learn of Me,” He says. In other words, work by My method. “My yoke is easy, and My burden is light” (Matthew 11:30). That is to say, easy does it. Don’t strain, don’t tug, relax. Do one job at a time using the light touch, the easy stroke.

 What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them. —Mark 11:24

To pray successfully, you must employ affirmation and visualization. Form a picture in your mind, not of lack or denial or frustration or illness, but of prosperity, abundance, attainment, health. Always remember you will receive as a result of prayer exactly what you think, not what you say. If you pray for achievement but think defeat, your words are idle because your heart has already accepted defeat. Therefore, practice believing that even as you pray you are receiving God’s boundless blessings, and they will come to you.

 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. —Proverbs 3:5

This text will help you avoid a nervous breakdown. It will stimulate your recovery if you have had one. A famous neurologist, a specialist in nervous breakdowns often “prescribes” this text for his patients. He writes the words on a card and instructs his patient to commit them to memory and repeat them until they are indelibly printed on the subconscious mind. The cause of much nervous trouble is frustration. And the antidote to frustration is a calm faith, not in your own cleverness, or in hard toil, but in God’s guidance. The cure of frustration is the belief that God will help you obtain your heart’s desire. Trust in God with all your heart, and you will be able to keep on working in health and happiness for long years to come.

 I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. —John 10:10

Many people are lacking in energy. Their vitality is low. They are filled with inner conflicts, which dissipate energy. They are dull and apathetic. What is the secret of energized life? Christ is the answer. It is said of Him, “In Him was life” (John 1:4). Fill your mind with Christ, fill your heart with Him, and inevitably energy, vitality, exuberance, delight, and eagerness will well up within you. Every day as you repeat this text make it read, “Christ has come that I (fill in your own name) might have life and might have it more abundantly.”

 If God be for us, who can be against us? —Romans 8:31

Imagine yourself as actually looking at all your diffi- culties like an army lined up against you. Then realize you have a backing that can overcome them all. As you face these enemies of yours— discouragement, frustration, disappointment, hostility, weakness—ask yourself, “What shall I say to these things?” And the answer is, “If God be for us, who can be against us?” Now, spend a minute realizing that God is for you and say this affirmation: “God is with me. God is for me. God is greater than all these things.” Then visualize these enemies of your peace and happiness as retreating, giving way before God’s power. Personalize the text by saying: “If God be for me, who can be against me?” The repetitive use of this text will give you an enormous sense of God’s presence and a powerful feeling of victory.

 The kingdom of God is within you. —Luke 17:21

When you are filled with self-doubt, and in the grip of your inferiority complex, don’t give up saying, “I can’t do it, I haven’t it in me.” You do have a very big “it” within you. You have the Kingdom of God within you. God has placed in your personality all the ability you need. You have only to believe in yourself, and strength within you will be released. In saying the text, try it this way, “God’s abundance, peace, and power are within me. I lack for nothing.”

 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. —II Timothy 1: 7

Your fears can be healed by this text. It tells us, first, that fear is overcome by power. What power? There is only one force more powerful than fear, and that is faith. When fear comes to your mind, counter it with an affirmation of faith Second, love overcomes fear. By love is meant trust, confidence, complete dependence upon God. Practice this attitude and fear will diminish. The third element is to attain a sound mind in which there are no complexes, quirks, and obsessions. Live with the thought of God, and you will develop a sound mind where no shadowy fear can lurk. Whenever you are afraid, verbalize against the thing that you fear, using the words of this text.

 Thou shalt guide me with Thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory. —Psalm 73:24

Perhaps, today, you have a problem, which has baf- fled you. Try allowing this text to penetrate your mind un- til it becomes a dominating conception, and it will do some important things for you. It will make you understand that there is an answer to every problem, and that God is thinking along with you. It will bring to bear upon your problem that keen and sharp perception of wisdom called insight. If you put every problem in God’s hands, ask Him to give you the right answer, believe that He is doing just that, and will take the guidance that comes, your decisions will turn out right.

 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us. —Ephesians 3:20

Today, remind yourself that nothing is too good to be true. Your great hopes can be realized. Your most wonderful dreams can come true. All that you really need, you can have. An incredible goodness is operating in your behalf. If you are living a paltry life, resolve to stop it today. Expect great things to happen. Confidently receive God’s abundant blessings. Do not think lack. Instead think prosperity, abundance, the best of everything. God wants to give to you, His child, every good thing. Don’t hinder His generosity.
