“We can complain that the rose has bushes, have thorns or we can complain that thorns have roses.” – Abraham Lincoln

Like the thorns are always parts of the rose flower, so are problems part of life. There isn’t a life without some form of problem or the other. But some of us have made it habitual to complain about our problems. We are always seeking friends, family and church to complain to. In my country today many people are always seeking for prophets and “prayer warriors” to eliminate problems, failing to understand that a problem free person is a dead person. A Day Will Make the Differrence

Many times we face difficulties, uncertainties and challenges that threaten to destroy our relationships, marriages and life. What surprises me most times when I go through days of having series of challenges is by just sleeping and waking up the next day, everything return back to normal as if I never had challenges the previous day.

A day makes a lot of difference in our lives. If you are having a difficult day, never give up and think your life is a difficult one, its just one day! If you endure till the breaking of a new one, you will see that most of your problems have passed along with the previous one miraculously.

The scripture says, weeping may endure for a night but joy always comes in the morning. Many of us will agree with this if we can cast our minds back to the many mornings our challenges at work, our quarrels at home, our fights with our friends etc have been miraculously resolved for us by a new day. Tired of Doing Good?

Tired of doing good and not being appreciated? I have had people tell me they don’t think they will help people anymore, because in spite of the good they do people don’t appreciate them, all they receive in return is criticism, “no thank yous” and so on.

While it is hurting to do good and not feel appreciated, it shouldn’t stop us from continuing our good works. The world may not see it and recognize it, but God sees everything and rewards everything. Do you want to stop doing good because it seems no one ever does same to you? Friends keep up is all I can say to you.

In the gospel of Mark, we find the parable of the Sower shared by Christ. Christ shared a story of a farmer that when to sow seeds, while he was casting his seeds, some fell by the road side and birds picked them up, some fell on rocky grounds, and when they grew they were over exposed to sun heat and the little plants died, others fell among thorns, and the thorns choked them so even though they grew, they couldn’t bear seeds. But the farmer being not discouraged, kept planting and finally some seeds fell on good grounds, these seeds germinated, grew and bore fruits, and he had a good harvest. Be Happy Now!

Naturally when things are good with us; our businesses are yielding profits; our health is great; our relationships are good; everything around seem to be doing exceedingly well, most of us tend to be in our best moods; we give more; we love more; we laugh more; we worship God more and so on.

The moments things start to slide; when we experience losses in our business; when our relationships are experiencing some challenges; and everything that seemed good start turning a bit bad, our moods turn alongside them. Some of us won’t worship God anymore, we don’t laugh anymore we find faults easily and push our friends away.

Unfortunately this kind of habit is what has been holding us back and hindering our blessings. All truly great people know that to continue to get the blessings and get the most from life, one has to live in a constant state of gratitude and happiness in spite of what is happening around us.

Friends every life experiences challenges and the down side once in a while, some people experience misfortune more than once, but the key to rising victoriously from our setbacks is to practice and make a habit of these words from Habakkuk: Continue reading Be Happy Now!

Count Your Blessings Not Your Storms

Many of us find it hard to stay thankful when we face difficulties. When life knocks you down from all sides, how do you stay thankful? We look at our lives in those moments and there isn’t nothing to be grateful for, all we see are the scars, the pains, the tears, the loneliness, the poverty, the debts and so on. Yet God says in all things, we should give thanks.

I have experienced difficulties too in my life, and I know exactly how it feels, but through practice I have learned to stay grateful, to always count my blessings in those times. Because despite what have been through, I am still alive, sound and healthy, with a family that loves me. You see if you look critically at your life, you will always find many things to be grateful for even when you are facing those storms of life.

Imagine this story that was shared with me; “A mighty wind blew night and day. It stole the oak tree’s leaves away. Then snapped its boughs and pulled its bark, until the oak was tired and stark. But still the oak tree held its ground, while other trees fell all around. Continue reading Count Your Blessings Not Your Storms

Be Content Whatever The Circumstance

There is a fable about a king who went to his garden one morning, only to find everything withered and dying. He asked the oak tree that stood near the gate what the trouble was. The oak said it was tired of life and determined to die because it was not tall and beautiful like the pine tree. The pine was troubled because it could not bear grapes like the grapevine. The grapevine was determined to throw its life away because it could not stand erect and produce fruit as large as peaches. The geranium was fretting because it was not tall and fragrant like the lilac.

And so it went throughout the garden. Yet coming to a violet, the king found its face as bright and happy as ever and said, “Well, violet, I’m glad to find one brave little flower in the midst of this discouragement. You don’t seem to be the least disheartened.”The violet responded, “No, I’m not. I know I’m small, yet I thought if you wanted an oak or a pine or a peach tree or even a lilac, you would have planted one. Since I knew you wanted a violet, I’m determined to be the best little violet I can be.”

One of the greatest causes of unhappiness in life is trying to be like others, or allowing others to determine how we live our lives. People who are living their greatest lives are people who have learned to be content in whatever circumstances they find themselves. They don’t allow the things they lack to affect their gratitude for the ones they have now. Continue reading Be Content Whatever The Circumstance

Today’s Quote

The moment you begin to worry about the things you want and the things you don’t have in life is the moment you will lose your gratitude…The greatest source of happiness is the ability to be grateful at all times.” – Zig Ziglar
