“Lord make me live until I am dead.” What a powerful prayer every one of us ought to be praying, considering that most of us are dead even though we are still breathing. Some of us are just going through live without growing along with it. Take a look at your life, are you growing or just going along in life? If in the last week or months you haven’t read a book or learnt anything you aren’t growing my friend…you have simply enrolled into the class of people who are just going along in life.
Some of us have been left behind in the trends of our industries and career. While the world has advanced in technology, we are still operating the way our professors taught us in school years back in college, yet we claim to be aspiring for success.
A passage in the Bible talks about people of the tribe of Issachar, and how they understood the times, they were in and were always ahead of the other tribes in Israel. In today’s world if we want to live our greatest lives, we must be like the Issachar generation. We must always be ahead or in step with the trends as regards knowledge and information. Don’t be dead while your still alive. Seek to learn. Continue reading Learn to Live Until You are Dead→
Every day, we hear or read from some of the world’s leading thinkers, teachers, philosophers, spiritualists, Psychologists, Coaches, and influencers tell us about our potentials, about the greatness in us; about the gifts of God deposited in our minds, with only a fraction of it being used. Many of us believe and know these truths.
Yet we are letting discouragement, worry and fear grip us and ruin our lives and relationships when we could be happy. We let ourselves get old when we could stay young and attractive. We are doing all kinds of things to our bodies to make us ill when could be strong and healthy.
One day, a friend was trying to share with me what he called some “success secrets” and after listening to him, I told him I already knew the things he was telling me. But he looked at me in the eyes and said, “No you don’t”. But I insisted that I did. And as the argument ensued, he said to me, “Vincent, to know and not to do, is not to know.” And those words hit me real hard, because, I wasn’t doing the things I claimed to have known.
Many of us are like me at the time. We think we know many things yet we don’t apply them, we don’t act on what we know. The truth is you might be a graduate from any of the top universities of this world – in fact you might have all the facts about life and success stored away in your head, but unless you organized your knowledge and expressed it in the form of action, it will be worth nothing to you or the world.
Some of us will be quick to argue that we are not given any chance to put our knowledge to use. But has the world ever given anyone a chance? Except that everyone who has ever succeeded, had to push through and created space for themselves through their imagination, self-confidence, initiative and tenacity.
The world is filled with millions of talented musicians who are not singing; gifted artists who are not painting or sculpting; talented writers who aren’t writing. They have every essential quality with which to offer great service to the world, except one quality – ACTION! Continue reading It’s Time To Act!→
“An ocean liner was caught in a terrible storm. It seemed that any moment the seaworthy vessel would capsize. As one of the passengers sought safety, he saw a small child sitting in the middle of the ship’s dining room, playing with a toy, seemingly oblivious to the chaos and confusion around him. Frantically, the passenger ran up to him and screamed, ‘You’d better put on your life vest and find your parents. We are in the middle of a storm!’ the little boy looked up at the stranger and calmly replied, ‘Thank you mister, but I am not worried. My daddy is the captain of the ship.”
“Woe to him who builds his house by unrighteousness
And his chambers by injustice.
Who uses his neighbour’s service without wages, and gives him nothing for his work,
Who says, ‘I will build myself a wide house with spacious chambers
And cut out windows for it, panelling it with cedar and painting it with vermilion
“Shall you reign because you enclose yourself in cedar?
Did not your father eat and drink, and do justice and righteousness?
Then it was well with him.
He judged the cause of the poor and needy; then it was well.
Was not that knowing me?” Says the Lord. – Jeremiah 22:13-16
Who is a great man or woman? In answering this question, too often our minds go to the people on Forbe’s rich list, the heads of large corporations and organizations, political leaders, church leaders, Bestselling Authors, Celebrities, and so on. In our world, when we think of greatness, we think of power, affluence, the choice cars, the yachts, the jets, the jewellery , the assets in prime locations, and the other possessions people have. While most great people do have these things – which of course are good any way, having them does not qualify you for greatness. Continue reading True Greatness→
These words taken from Hosea 4:6 kept ringing in my ears all day: “My people are destroyed because of lack of knowledge…” It got me thinking and wondering, how many people have lost their jobs, how many marriages have been wrecked, how many students have flunked tests and examination, simply because they didn’t have the right information. Yet it hasn’t stopped, even this moment people are still in tears, in pains, simply because of one piece of information, one secret, strategy, they didn’t possess. And I can hear them, saying I wish I had known earlier, I wish I hadn’t wasted so much of time doing the wrong stuff, I wish I had spend more time reading instead of watching TV….regrets!
What about you? Are you making your day count or you are just passing the time? So many of us are passing the time when we should be improving our lives. We spend more time watching our favourite reality TV shows that are not real anyway. It really hurts to see that many of us have favourite TV shows, movies, games, etc but don’t have a favourite book. It’s really sad to see that a lot of us just pass the time like we have extra hours added to our 24 hours. “Thousands of people have found themselves through the reading of some book, which has opened the door within them and given them the first glimpse of their possibilities. I know men and women whose lives have been molded, the entire trend of their careers completely changed, uplifted beyond their dreams by the books they have read.”- Orison Swett Marden Continue reading Get Knowledge!→
