One of the characteristics of people who are not doing very well with their lives is, they are top complainers and whiners. They never can find anything good about their lives and the environment they find themselves. Folks what you focus on, expands and successful people are using this to their advantage.
Haven’t you notice that successful people never talk about how bad the economy is, how high things in the market have gone up, or how many bad breaks they are having? Instead they focus on what’s good, what’s working, or what’s beautiful about them…they always try to find the good in every situation they find themselves in.
Do you want to end this year on high note? Develop the habit of finding the good in every situation. Stop talking about the negative things around you. Stop looking for the things that ain’t working in your life. If you are a Christian, you should be familiar with a powerful scripture that says, Ask and it shall be given to you, knock and the door shall be open to you, seek and you shall find. So here is a question for you, what are you seeking in your life? Continue reading Stop Looking For Faults, Start Looking For Good→
Many of us talk about the kind of life we want to live, the things we want to achieve, the places we want to be, the kind of relationships we want to have. For example, you may be reading this and you have been talking about being a successful entrepreneur, a bestselling author, a thought leader, a coach etc. while it is good to dream and talk about your dreams, here is a question for you, “What are you willing to give up, in order to have the life you keep saying you want?”
Two years ago I was asked that question, when I was struggling to become a speaker. I knew my higher purpose was to inspire others to live their best lives, but I was letting too many stuff get in the way. Then I met a mentor who asked me, Vincent what are you willing to give up, so that you can have the life you keep talking and dreaming about? In responding, I thought I had to only give up the bad habits, the things I didn’t love doing but he said, hey, that’s easy, you must also give up the things you love that are getting in the way of you following your dreams.
Folks your dreams require focused attention. So the reason why most of us haven’t reached that height we talk about is because we let too many stuff get in the way. Maybe like me you may have to really take a look at your lives and do some purging. What are you saying YES to that is making you say NO to your dream? Your present and your future welfare depend mainly on yourself. Unfortunately many of us are looking outside of us for help. We assume that the influence of others on our behalf will enable us do better or accomplish more. While it is true that we need the cooperation of others in other to become successful, you can’t and shouldn’t surrender your power to others. You can’t sit around and expect others to do things for you that you should be doing for yourself.
Realize that you have within you all the powers, energies, ability, resources, for building a highly successful life. Remember the story told of a man who gave out talents to his servants as he was embarking on a journey, with a charge that they each invest their talents and present an account to him when he returns. According to the story, he gave one servant five talents, another he gave two talents while the last got one talent. On returning from his trip after several weeks of being away, the master called his servants to render accounts of their talents.
The servant who got five talents told the master how he had invested his talents and was able to double his talents from five to ten. The servant who got two told the master that he too doubled his from two to four. When it was the turn of the servant that got one talent, he dug up his one talent where he had hidden it and presented it back to his master. He was angry that he was given just one single talent, and this really enraged the master who reprimanded the servant. Continue reading It’s in You!→
Are you letting yesterday take up too much of today? Unfortunately many of us are. We spend so much time thinking and talking about how achievements, our victories, our breakthroughs and our successes of yesterday, last week, last month, last year and so on and forget to act to improve our lives today.
There are also some of us who spend our today whining and complaining about the misfortunes, ill lucks, failures, disappointments and adversity of yesterday. All we do is blame others, circumstances and events that happened yesterday, last week, last month, last year and so on for our inability to act today. We exist today but we are not fully alive.
Folks don’t let yesterday take up too much of today. No matter what you achieved or didn’t achieve previously, forget about it and focus on today. Take the advice of the scripture that says, “Forget the former things and do not dwell on the past” because it is gone. Continue reading Don’t Let Yesterday Take Up Much of Today→
One day two butterflies were on the edge of a flower, discussing. One said, “We cannot know whether there is any honey in the flower; no butterfly ever found honey, and no butterfly ever will.” The other said, “Well, nevertheless, I think there might be some.” And while they argued back and forth, a humming-bird flew in and ran its long beak into the flower, and sipped the sweetness they flew away.
Most of us are like these two butterflies, we sit by, discussing, arguing, planning, and praying but we never dare take action. And while we contemplate and plan, someone else rushes in and takes the opportunities from under us and become successful.
There is a saying that “fools rush in where Angels fear thread.” While this statement may be true for people who act without plans, the world we live in today has been made better because some people acted where others were too scared and sceptical to take action. Do you have a dream, vision or goal? Enough of all the talk about your intentions step out today and act on them and you will see that circumstances, events and people will come your way to help you succeed. The Bible instructs us as Christians that we should hold on to our confessions of faith but too often when we are faced with challenges most of us forget about our faith and “speak reality” little wonder the challenges keep increasing. In order to help us keep professing our faith and confessing positive things into our lives, here are 8 powerful affirmations and confessions to help us through challenges:
“Never Again will I confess “I can’t,” “I can do all things through Him who strengthens me” (Philippians 4: 13 NAS).
Never Again will I confess lack, for “My God shall supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:19 NAS).
Never Again will I confess fear, for “God hath not given us a spirit of timidity, but of power and love and discipline” (2 Timothy 1:7 NAS).
Never Again will I confess doubt and lack of faith, for “…God has allotted to each a measure of faith” (Romans 12:3 NAS).
I have been failed a lot of times by people and I guess others may say the same about me. Sometimes people fail you or you fail people not because you do it intentionally but just because you are human and it is in your nature. Man forgets…man fails, yet many people still put their trust in man.
I hear many folks talk about their parents, family members, bosses, political leaders and the promises they made to them which make them so happy. Well guys even the most honest among us still fails, still forgets…because he is man. The only thing that is sure is God’s word. God is as good as His Word. And God’s Word is as good as He is. Do you have God’s promise? Do you have God’s Word? Then just rejoice. That is as good as having it.
