“Never tear down anything unless you are prepared to build something better in its place.” I think of these wise words each time I read or hear people writing or saying negative things about others. Many of us have a habit of criticizing and condemning others – especially church leaders and their messages. I was on a social media platform recently and someone who has a significant following online was condemning a leading pastor as “Anti-Christ” and not a true believer.
If you find yourself always attacking, opposing and criticizing the actions of others, remember, it is easy to condemn, criticize and attack other people thoughtlessly for their failings and mistakes, and equally easy to find fault in their work or in situations that are not to your liking. It is far more difficult to empathize and help build people up. Until you work their paths you will never know what people go through to get where they are in life.
The bible says the thief comes to steal, kill and destroy others joy, happiness, laughter, progress, work, successes and lives. Don’t become the thief! Negative criticism and condemning others is cheap, so let’s stop doing easy and cheap things. One way to do this is to try and catch yourself being negative towards others, and remember the old saying, “If you can’t say something nice about someone, don’t say anything at all.” Continue reading Seek to Build and Not to Destroy!→
The bible commands that we guard our heart with utmost care because it is in there that all our thoughts are formed. In today’s world where we are being daily bombarded with unsolicited negative information, we need to be careful what we let into our hearts. All the information we receive are seeds that are being planted in our minds, and like all seeds they must produce fruits after their kind.
The life you are living now is the product of the kind of seeds (information) that has been planted in you over time. Just like it’s said our character is the sum of our actions, and our actions are the result of our thoughts. Therefore as you think in your heart, and as you dwell on certain kinds of thoughts in your daily life, you begin to manifest those thoughts in your reality.
What thoughts have you been thinking lately? Do you always think thoughts of misery, failure, defeat, discouragement and poverty? Or do you always think thoughts of power, success, good health, love, happiness and long life? Whatever it is you are thinking, you don’t need to see a shrink for your results as your life is already manifesting your thoughts. Continue reading Guard Your Heart→
The journey towards success, or a better life is laced with many obstacles and challenges, but the one that stops many of us, is that conviction that our dreams and goals are beyond our reach. Many of us have been sold this lie. We have allowed the many suppressive and negative forces to direct our thoughts and aims toward mediocrity.
In the beginning of our lives it wasn’t always so. God created us with a charge to have dominion over all things. The scripture says we are called to be the head and not the tail. As children we all had great dreams and goals. Visit any primary school today, or talk to any young boy or girl, you will be surprised that they have plans to conquer the world, to attain important positions in life, to become famous and wealthy, to be Olympic champions and so on.
But when they become teens and young adults, the negative suppressive forces that stopped their parents begin to work on them, sometimes it is their own parents and older relatives who failed to act on their own lives that set out to lead these young lads into mediocrity.
They begin to tell them, it is foolish to be a dreamer, that their ideas are impractical, unachievable, stupid, naïve, foolish, doesn’t suit the times and the economy, or that they would need a terrible amount of money to go anywhere in life, or that “luck determines who gets ahead or you’ve got to have important friends,” or you’re “too old or too young.” Continue reading Negative Opinion is Poison→
