Is Money All You Receive From Your Work? Pt.1

I went to the inner part of the city I live this past week, and there I saw something I haven’t seen in many, many years now; Men and youths gathering around to play board games, and argue of trifle matters and events.

As I stopped for a while to really try to analyse the situation in my head, I still couldn’t understand why people with so much abilities could be “idling” or “killing time” so early in the day. So when I met with the person I went to meet with in the area, I asked him, why are these able bodied people wasting their lives?

To that he responded; “you haven’t seen anything yet. There are no opportunities.”

Do you or someone you know think this way? That you don’t have opportunities or resources to prosper and have a great life in our economy today?

The truth you must know is, for anyone who has the ability, there is always opportunity available. Just as the fields wait for the plough, and the sea wait for the ships and boats, so does God stand ready to corporate with you in your labours, and to reward you according to your diligence and industry.

The statement, “There are no jobs, no opportunities, or nothing for me to do with my ability” is either an expression of vanity, an excuse for negligence, or a confession of lack of mental resource, or of inability to utilize opportunity.

There are numerous opportunities to prosper today. In fact so many people have proven that a downturn in the economy presents a big opportunity for those who have the ability to think and look beyond the obvious, and who also have the capacity for work. Commitment Brings Luck

2015 is about to end. For most of us, we are still far away from our goals…if we had any. You see I have discovered that a lot of people that claim to have goals don’t have any at all, they only have wishes but unfortunately wishes hardly get fulfilled in this life. The only thing that gets fulfilled is a dream/goal/vision that is backed by action.

When I interact with people, most of them wish and hope that next year will be better than this year. Guys next year won’t be better than this year if you keep doing what you are doing. The only way next year will be better for you is if you determine to make it so by taking deliberate steps to change your life.

Success in life demands constant push and efforts. People who depend on luck/wishes are always disappointed. Think about this, don’t you think you have waited too long to be lucky before you start? Imagine how your life would have been transformed; imagine the things you would’ve accomplished, the places you would’ve gone had you started on your dreams already. Stop Sitting on The Edge

One day two butterflies were on the edge of a flower, discussing. One said, “We cannot know whether there is any honey in the flower; no butterfly ever found honey, and no butterfly ever will.” The other said, “Well, nevertheless, I think there might be some.” And while they argued back and forth, a humming-bird flew in and ran its long beak into the flower, and sipped the sweetness they flew away.

Most of us are like these two butterflies, we sit by, discussing, arguing, planning, and praying but we never dare take action. And while we contemplate and plan, someone else rushes in and takes the opportunities from under us and become successful.

There is a saying that “fools rush in where Angels fear thread.” While this statement may be true for people who act without plans, the world we live in today has been made better because some people acted where others were too scared and sceptical to take action. Do you have a dream, vision or goal? Enough of all the talk about your intentions step out today and act on them and you will see that circumstances, events and people will come your way to help you succeed. Make the Best of Everything

Make best use of everything, every situation, and nothing but opportunities will come your way. When you make the best of everything you will attract the best of everything, and everything becomes an opportunity for you. Sure there will be some situations that may seem worthless, tragic, or terrible, that will make us think we are wasting our time while we go through such states. Maybe you are reading this and you have lost a loved one, you or someone close to you has a terminal illness, and you are wondering what opportunities are there in such situation. Folks yes, we may not get out of the situation, but you can still find an opportunity in it; an opportunity to be closer to God, an opportunity to be around you loved ones and experience true family closeness once more. A lot of people have lost family members to terminal illnesses, and through that experience, they are now helping other people cope with living with the situations, you see no matter how worthless the situation may seem to be, the person who makes the best use of it while he is in it will get something of real value out of it; in addition, the experience will have exceptional worth, because whenever we try to turn a negative situation to good account we turn everything in ourselves to good account. “How terrible it will be for those who go down to Egypt for help, who rely on horses, who trust in the chariot, because there are so many, and in charioteers, because they are so strong— but do not look to the Holy One of Israel or seek the LORD!” – Isaiah 31:1

The world over, even in the most developed and wealthy nations, you still find people who believe that other cities, states, or countries hold better opportunities for them. This mentality is gradually taking over the spirit of self-reliance and courage. Right where you are there are very many successful people, and there are also those who believe that “out there” is; where the main thing is happening, where the big pay is, where their success lie.

The world is full of opportunities. Even the deserts and oceans have opportunities for those who will take them. But, some of us have become like the pilgrim described in John Bunyan’s “Pilgrim’s progress” who was locked in the dungeon of Giant Despair’s castle, and had the key of deliverance all the time with him but had forgotten about it and kept praying for God’s deliverance, until he remembered that he had the keys to the gates Continue reading Don’t Look Too Far For Things Close By

I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all. – Ecclesiastes 9:11

‘Time and chance’, what I call opportunity is available to all of us, yet many of us do not take it. We don’t recognize it. We look for it in distant places. We complain of a lack of opportunities where we are, but that is not true because there is opportunity where you are.

Opportunities! Every life is full of them.

Every lesson in school is an opportunity.

Every examination is a chance in life.

Every blog post is an opportunity.

Every client is an opportunity.

Every sermon is an opportunity.

Every business transaction is an opportunity, – an opportunity to be polite, – an opportunity to be a man or woman, – an opportunity to be honest, – an opportunity to make friends

It is only a weak mind that complains of a lack of time or opportunity, because there are so many people out there who have made more out of the odds and little opportunities which many of us carelessly throw away, than others will get out of a whole life-time. Like bees, they extract honey from every flower. Every person they meet, every circumstance of the day, adds something to their store of useful knowledge or personal power.

Don’t waste that life! Live your greatest life today.

God bless you!
