Look Inside That Obstacle For Opportunity

look inside that adversity is an opportunityAre you faced with an obstacle or challenge and you are confused on what to do or what decision to make and so your life is completely enveloped in discouragement, disappointment and the failure or your plans?

Friends, obstacles and challenges are part of life, as everyone no matter how highly spiritual or full of faith can have a life without difficulties and challenges of some sort. But the good news is that they are never permanent however hurting or destructive they may seem.

Unfortunately so many people have been held back because of the obstacles on their paths. Are you one of those? What is holding you back? Is it the physical? – your size, age, height, distance, disability, money. Or is it mental? – Fear, uncertainty, inexperience, prejudice, education. Or is it spiritual? – Bewitchment, Devil, evil manipulations etc.

Perhaps people don’t take you seriously, or you think you are too old or too young ,or you lack support and resources, or the laws and regulations restrict your options, or obligations and responsibilities, or your false goals and self doubts. Think Forward, Move Forward

oldest runnerWe have been told in the Bible that “we have a goodly heritage”, “a hope and a future” a glorious future, yet many of us after months and years of hustling, striving and pursuing our goals don’t seem to be getting any nearer to living these promises. What then could be wrong?

For some of you, if you really want to be, do or have this glorious existence that has been promised us, you must leave your past behind. One of the reasons why you are not making it now is you spend too much time in the past. Friends except the past inspires you to do things better and work smarter, you must stop going back to relive it.

Be done with regrets over missed opportunities, seeming failures and bitter disappointments except they serve to warn you of their reoccurrence. Be done with thinking about “what might have been” or “what might have happened”, “had I done this and that” and think only of what shall be or what shall happen. “The universe is wider than our views of it.” – Henry David Thoreau

Are you fond of procrastinating and shifting your dreams and responsibilities to some later day? Think about this message from the scriptures; “How do you know what your life will be like tomorrow? Your life is like the morning fog–it’s here a little while, then it’s gone.” There is a cemetery in the district where I live, and each weekend someone is buried. And every time I notice this many thoughts and questions run through my mind; did the individual who is buried achieve his/her dreams? Did they accomplish what they set out to do? Were they happy when they died? Etc.

Folks this life is momentary. If you have dreams and goals now is the time to begin them. Today is best time to begin all those worthy plans and dreams you’ve been contemplating on. You’ve probably heard the saying that delay is dangerous and procrastination weakens purpose, why don’t you get up now and seize the opportunity while it is still within your reach? You may wake up tomorrow and realize that everything is gone. I have missed some opportunities in my life and I can tell you it was really a painful experience for me when I realized what I had lost by failing to take action.

Bill Gates one of the richest people in the world was asked during an interview on “Larry King Live” what his secret of success was, and if luck had any role to play in it. And replied thus, (in Paraphrasing) Larry maybe luck had a role to play in it, maybe I was at the right place at the right time, but you know I wasn’t the only one there. Others were there at the time too but the difference was I had a bigger sense of vision. And he went on to say, “Larry” I wasn’t the only one with a bigger vision but what made the real difference was that I took immediate and massive action. Continue reading Take Immediate Action

Better Days Ahead!

Some of you are always talking about your past; your past achievements; your past successes; your past relationship and marriages. Meaning that nothing really grand is happening to you now or in the future. When you look at your future you do so with the eyes of fear and worry, thinking that you have lived your best years and achieved your best successes in the past.

Folks if this is the case with you, cheer up and never worry because an old Italian proverb says, “Do not worry. When God shuts a door, He opens a window.” Your past isn’t your best. The relationship you just lost isn’t going to be your last nor isn’t going to be your fondest.

Stop looking back in regret of your mistakes and inaction…yes you made the mistakes but there still opportunities ahead for you in the future. In my own life I have done so many mistakes too that I thought my life would never move ahead. I have also experienced good times too, but I know that I have more years ahead of me filled with great opportunities for me to take – same also with you. Continue reading Better Days Ahead!

Gold Wrapped in Dirt

Most Christians are familiar with the story of David. Many times when we talk about David, we only remember his exploits over “Goliath.” Not many remember the fact that he had killed a lion and bear prior to that. Maybe because that aspect of his life wasn’t dramatically expressed like his triumph over Goliath.

But you see, the lion and the bear that attacked David’s flocks were wonderful opportunities for him. Have we ever thought of what would have happened had David faltered and failed in killing both animals? I believe that if he had failed, he would have missed God’s opportunity for him, and may never have fulfilled his purpose on earth.

Nobody would think of a lion and a bear, some of the planet’s most deadly animals as a special blessing or an opportunity, yet they were an opportunity in disguise for David. That’s why I strongly believe that every adversity, every difficulty, every trial that comes our way, if we view it correctly, is an opportunity for us. Continue reading Gold Wrapped in Dirt

Blessings in Burdens

I was gifted with this piece, and I thought it is worth sharing here;

There is a fable about the way birds first got their wings. The story goes that initially they were made without them. Then God made the wings, set them down before the wingless birds, and said to them, “Take up these burdens and carry them.”

The birds had sweet voices for singing, and lovely feathers that glistened in the sunshine, but they could not soar in the air. When asked to pick up the burdens that lay at their feet, they hesitated at first. Yet soon they obeyed, picked up the wings with their beaks, and set them on their shoulders to carry them.

For a short time the load seemed heavy and difficult to bear, but soon, as they continued to carry the burden and to fold the wings over their hearts, the wings grew attached to their little bodies. They quickly discovered how to use them and were lifted by the wings high into the air. The weights had become wings.

This is a parable for us. We are the wingless birds, and our duties and tasks are the wings God uses to lift us up and carry us heavenward. We look at our burdens and heavy loads, and try to run from them, but if we will carry them and tie them to our hearts, they will become wings. And on them we can then rise and soar toward God. Lessons In Setbacks

“If you have suffered more than your fair share of difficulties in life, perhaps you are being prepared to serve some greater purpose that will require you to be equipped with the wisdom you have acquired through your trials.” In my life, I have suffered a lot of setbacks, failed many tests and exams, been months on one meal a day, I have been dressed on handed down clothes…most times they are oversized. I know what it is to be poor, as I have experienced poverty first hand.

When I look at how far I have come and where I am now in life, I can say that, without those challenges early in life I wouldn’t be doing what I am doing now. Today I am committed to helping and inspiring people through the lessons I have learnt. When we go through life difficulties, we may not understand the lessons we need to learn immediately, and it’s easy to feel frustrated as a result, but trust me one day you will look back and thank God for the challenges.

Greatness comes with a price, as everyone who has achieved great things in this life had to face difficulties. Some, in the course of their lives have lost limbs, family members, jobs, possessions, etc. No matter what it is you are going through; a divorce, breakup, loss of job, sickness, business failure, delays, lack of education, poverty etc, you can reach into that pain and pick out the lessons. Your life may not look pretty at the moment, but it is exactly what you need to learn for you to grow into the person you have been destined to become.

Remember, “Happy people have often experienced as much adversity as those who are unhappy. What sets them apart is that they have the good sense to manage their memories in a way that enriches their lives.”

Take Action

There is a story in the Bible gospel of John, about a pool by the sheep gate in Jerusalem where an Angel comes in periodically to stir the water, and any person that enters into the pool first after the angel’s action was healed of his or her diseases.

Around this pool were gathered so many people with diverse afflictions, all waiting for the angel, and to get into the water. Among these group was a particular man who had been sick for thirty eight years, and had been waiting along with the others for an opportunity to get into the pool. Now it so happened that Jesus passed along that way one day, and seeing the man, He asked him; “Do you want to be made well?” But our man instead of answering the question directly, reeled out so many excuses why he was still lying down there – He told Jesus how didn’t have any family member or friend to assist him get into the pool, and so on.

You see like that man, there are so many of us who just wait. We sit around, we are where we are because we are waiting for the world to give us a chance. I hear and see it around me all the time; “oh if only I had a rich Dad or Uncle, I wouldn’t be here at this level”; “I am here because nobody wants to help me out.” Folks, the world have never given anyone a chance. Think of the big names we hear of today. The many great men and women who are reshaping our world today got where they are through their imagination, self-confidence, initiative and hard work.

It doesn’t matter how highly educated you are, whether you got first class degree from the Ivy League universities around, your education is worth nothing to you and the world if you don’t take action. Life requires you to take action. When Jesus got to heal that man, He asked him to take action: “Arise, take your bed and walk.” It’s the same thing we ought to do if we are to live our greatest lives.

Rise up from your complains, excuses, fears, worries, doubts…and WALK. Enough of your victim stories – Take Action. “Take responsibility for your own happiness and success. Your friends and family may reach out to you in times of need. Be grateful for that, welcome their efforts, but keep pushing on your own too. The more efforts you put in, the more opportunities you create.” – Nick Vujicic
