Get the Staying Power

There are some of us who are attempting to give up on our dreams and goals due to the many difficulties and challenges on our paths. It is looking as if help won’t come, and our strength will fail. To those of us, I leave these words; “Go on, Sir (Madam), go on. The difficulties you meet with will rejoice themselves as you advance. Proceed; and light will dawn and shine with increasing clearness on your path.”

A wise king commenting on the importance of persistence and consistency of purpose, said this; “Seest thou a man diligent in his business? He shall stand before great men; he shall not stand before mean men.” You see, it isn’t so much of academic brilliance, ingenuity, huge financial resources as persistency and consistency of efforts and purpose that makes a person great.

The people who succeed in life are those who keep at it long enough even after others quit. Others may be more brilliant than you; they may be richer than you; they may be more talented than you are, but you can make the mark in life if you are persistent and determined enough. Maybe you are writing and no one is reading, ‘liking’ or ‘commenting’ on your work. You are singing and nobody’s listening. You are speaking and nobody’s hearing. Friends keep at it. Time will come when you will be heard and seen! Continue reading Get the Staying Power

The Secret to Real Strength

There are times in life when it takes a lot more courage and strength to do nothing than it is required to take action. Sometimes the best evidence of power is often found in one’s ability to maintain composure in times of distress, conflicts or negativity. But the world, our ego expects a reaction from us whenever we are attacked or confronted negatively.

We are termed tough, brave, courageous, when we attack back or respond in equal terms each time we are hurt by others, while we are often looked upon as cowards, weak, or timid etc, when we walk away from provocations and keep quiet in the face of harsh criticism.

Oh how many lives have been lost, how many marriages and relationships have been broken, and careers shattered, simply because of the need to revenge, the lack of self-restraint in the face of opposition and violence? All the great souls that walked this earth, had been masters of self-restraint and composure.

As a Christian, I find in the bible how Christ was confronted with vile and deadly charges, He responded with silence. To the many great insults, violent treatments and harsh criticisms, He responded with such silence and calmness that awed His accusers.

Do you want to live your greatest life? Practice self-restraint, Continue reading The Secret to Real Strength

Choose Your Friends

The most important thing in life is a friend, yet most of us do not take the time to choose our friends. It has been said that how far we go in life would be determined by the books we read and the friends we keep. So if you want to reach great heights in life you need to have friends who believe in you and inspire you to get there.

Who are your friends? A man is judged by the quality of his friends. If you hang around and become friends with negative, pessimistic folks, you will become negative and pessimistic, there by living a life below your potentials because we are the average of the people we spend our time with.

Some of us go about trying to be friends with everybody. Folks you can’t live your life that way, it’s not in the hoard of friends you have, but the quality of friends you keep. Friends ought to be carefully chosen and kept. Some of the people we call friends today are not suppose to be around us, we ought to keep them far from us, some may be good for correspondence, some should be mere acquaintances. The path to success requires that you take total control of your thoughts, words and actions. You don’t need to be around toxic people, who are always casting doubts and bursting your dreams. The bible says; “Do not be deceived; evil company corrupts good manners”. You have worked and given so much to get to this point, don’t let negative and toxic people pull you backwards.

As iron sharpens iron, so a man sharpens the countenance of his friend. Proverbs 27: 17(NKJV) “The insight of a true friend is more useful than the goodwill of others” Gain your friends by choice, not by chance, or circumstances. “A wise friend wards off worries, a foolish one brings them about.” Good friends are few, if you have them, keep them, as to keep is more important than to make new ones.
