So many writers have defined success. And every individual striving to achieve success has his or her own interpretation of what success means for them. What does success means to you?

To me, success is the achievement of something that is worthwhile, that will make my world richer and better, and me being able to contribute to the common good of others. That’s what I strive for, that’s what I live for.

I also believe that success also includes being able to acquire wealth, because nothing much can be done without money in our world today. Too many people are need, too many people are struggling such that to make their lives better you just have to give to them.

And I know that there are many who also share these thoughts with me, who believe that one of the metrics of judging success is how much money you have acquired. That’s why we work on our jobs or businesses isn’t it. Continue reading At What Cost Do You Obtain Your Success?

WHAT ARE YOU WILLING TO GIVE UP TO LIVE YOUR DREAMS?

Many of us talk about the kind of life we want to live, the things we want to achieve, the places we want to be, the kind of relationships we want to have. For example, you may be reading this and you have been talking about being a successful entrepreneur, a bestselling author, a thought leader, a coach etc. while it is good to dream and talk about your dreams, here is a question for you, “What are you willing to give up, in order to have the life you keep saying you want?”

Two years ago I was asked that question, when I was struggling to become a speaker. I knew my higher purpose was to inspire others to live their best lives, but I was letting too many stuff get in the way. Then I met a mentor who asked me, Vincent what are you willing to give up, so that you can have the life you keep talking and dreaming about? In responding, I thought I had to only give up the bad habits, the things I didn’t love doing but he said, hey, that’s easy, you must also give up the things you love that are getting in the way of you following your dreams.

Folks your dreams require focused attention. So the reason why most of us haven’t reached that height we talk about is because we let too many stuff get in the way. Maybe like me you may have to really take a look at your lives and do some purging. What are you saying YES to that is making you say NO to your dream? Don’t be discouraged in your love and giving if you are not being recognized and honoured by men for your deeds because while men may not appreciate you, God who keeps records will reward you soon. It really isn’t by donating huge sums of money in front of cameras, or holding a press conference to announce your contribution that matters, compared to giving out of love for God and man.

If you have been showing love to people, helping others in need, offering kind words of inspiration and encouragement to others and yet you don’t receive recognition for your gestures, and maybe as a result you are being discouraged, I hope the following story inspires you to do more;

“A poor man who dreamed one night that he went to Paradise, and who was so surprised to find himself there that he began to apologize profusely for his intrusion. He said he knew he was out of place, that he had no business there, because he had never during his life earned anything so glorious, and that, in fact, it was a presumption on his part even to look within the gates of Paradise.

He pleaded his inability to do anything to win him such a great favour, protesting that he was a very poor man, just an ordinary, everyday workman, who had no standing in society on the earth. He had tried to live honestly, he said, to do his work faithfully, to bring up his children as they should be brought up, and to be kind to his neighbours, but as to any right to enter Paradise, he could not understand how he had presumed to do such a thing. What are You Willing to Do In Order to Be?

As a young boy in primary school, I was always asked by teachers in the various classes I progressed into, and by other adults (relatives or family friends) what I will like to be when I grow up. Then I would give them answers of things I fancied back then based on the books I read, or the people I regarded as my heroes….(every child wants be like the adults they loved. So please be good examples to kids)

Right now as an adult, I still hear people tell me what they will like to be, or aiming at becoming; you want to become a writer, actor, actress, speaker, preacher, Entrepreneur, and so on. While we have figured out what we want to be, many of us haven’t figured out what we have to do in order to be those things we desire.

It’s very crucial to know what you must do, just as the Bible tells us in Luke 14:28-32; Continue reading What are You Willing to Do In Order to Be?

Do You Have a Dream?

#

“The dreamers are the saviours of the world…Humanity cannot forget its dreamers; it cannot let their ideals fade and die; it lives in them, it knows them as the realities which it shall one day see and know.

The world we live in today is made beautiful by the dreams of people. Everything you see around today was once a dream; an idea conceived by someone at some time, in some place. Columbus had a dream of another world, and he discovered it. Copernicus had a dream of a multiplicity of worlds and a wider universe, and he revealed it. Steve Jobs and Bill Gates dreamed of personal computers, and they realized it. Nelson Mandela dreamed of a free Country, and he realized it. This list is endless.

Do you have a dream in your heart? Cherish it remain true to your dream and vision. “Cherish your dreams; cherish your ideals; cherish the music that stirs in your heart, the beauty that forms in your mind…for out of them will grow all delightful conditions…if you but remain true to them, your world will at last be built.” You see nature unfolds as a dream. Some of the most magnificent things in nature began as a dream; you were once a foetus; the bird was once an egg; the tree no matter how big, was once a seed. “Dreams are the seedlings of realities.” Keep dreaming! No matter how bleak your present circumstance may be, you can change it when you dream, and strive to reach it.

Dreams do come true. Yes your dream can come true, as long as it is not a mere wish. No matter who you are or where you are from, you will fall, remain, or rise with your dreams. You become as small as your dreams, or as great as your dreams – It’s time to start dreaming big. Continue reading Do You Have a Dream?

Why You Should Endure…

“For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God you may receive what is promised.” – Hebrews 10:36

A truly great individual is one who has endured, persevered, the opposition, criticism, challenges, persecution, and risen above them all. Greatness comes after enduring the pains and trials, and suffering all the insufferable. “Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him.” – James 1: 12.

Everyone knows how to thrive in the good times. But it is the trying times, the hardships, the dark times that separate the one who will succeed and the one who wouldn’t. The most decorated soldiers are the ones who have gone to war and survived fierce and difficult battles and operations. If you want to live your greatest life, you have to endure the trials and tribulations, knowing that in them is the key for your breakthrough.

Have the faith to endure the humiliation of defeat and criticism, to rise above it and dare to do what is right in fulfilling your destiny. Or as Abraham Lincoln said, “Let us have faith that right makes might, and in that faith, let us to the end, dare to do our duty as we understand it.”

“Our negative life situations are essential elements for us to fulfil our intended destiny. However, unless we possess the power of endurance to live through the dark of the night, we will not see the glory of daybreak.” All great people have endured…so endure to be great.

What Are You Willing To Give Up?

There is a story in the bible about a young wealthy man who came to Jesus to find out what he must do to gain eternal life. Jesus told him to keep the commandments, of which he replied that he had kept those since he was a young boy. Then Jesus told him that if he wants to enter the kingdom, he should give up his wealth; make donations to the needy, and come follow him. But giving up things that he has become so attached to; the power and influence he has come to possess due to his wealth, was too great for this rich man to lose. He left Jesus feeling very depressed.

We are often told that to be successful, wealthy, great, happy, healthy etc, we must do some certain things. You see, most of us obey these rules; we exercise, do the affirmations, meditate, study hard, attend the seminars, attend church services and so on, yet we get so little results. Folks, obtaining Prosperity, success, greatness, reaching your ideal shape and weight is not just about what you are willing to do to gain it; more importantly, it is about what you are willing to give up in exchange for it.

Every professional athlete or sportsperson knows that to be a truly great athlete, there are some things he or she would need to give up, if not the training would be to no avail. He must have the discipline to forfeit some pleasures for the prize ahead. And so it is with every one of us who desire greatness. We must ask ourselves; What am I willing to give up, to become a great husband, wife, father, mother, boss, student, entrepreneur, employee…? Am I willing to give up the times that I spend with my friends? Am I willing to forego the parties and fun times that my friends enjoy? Am I willing to forego delicious, fattening food in exchange for a disciplined diet program?” Am I willing to forego watching sports to have time for my family? Am I willing to give up my need to always be right so that peace can reign in my home? Am willing to forego other things to serve my God more? Am I willing to give up my procrastinating habits?…etc.

Until we learn this principle; what Jesus was trying to teach the rich man, our desire for success and greatness would only remain a wish.
