What Is Your ‘One Thing’?

“This one thing I do…” – St. Paul.

“One thing I ask from the LORD, this only do I seek:..”- King David.

“The man who seeks one thing in life, and but one, May hope to achieve it before life be done; But he who seeks all things, wherever he goes, Only reaps from the hopes which around him he sows, A harvest of barren regrets”. – Owen Meredith.

I have discovered that, the difference between those who succeed and those who fail is not in the amount of work they each do, but in the amount of intelligent work. Many of us who do not achieve much, do enough to achieve grand success; but we labour at haphazard, building up with one hand only to tear down with the other. We do not grasp circumstances and change them into opportunities.

Focus folks, is the name of the game in life. Napoleon Hill calls it ‘definite chief aim’. What is your ‘One thing’? What is your aim and purpose in life? Surprisingly, some of us who desire success don’t know what we really want. We can’t define it in words. Instead we give answers like: “I hardly know yet what I am best suited for, but I am a firm believer in hard work, and I am determined to dig early and late all my life, and I know I shall come across something–either gold, silver, or at least iron.” The Bible tells us; “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.” – Matthew 7:7, “And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart. …” – Jeremiah 29:13. But the man who is forever looking about to see what he can find never finds anything. If we look for nothing in particular, we find just that and no more. We find what we seek with all our heart. “The bee is not the only insect that visits the flower, but it is the only one that carries honey away”.

Your Intuition Knows…Trust It

Have you ever been thinking of a friend or family member you haven’t seen for a while, and then the phone rings and it’s the person you were thinking about on the line he or she too was thinking about you? Have you ever awakened in the middle of the night and knew something had happened to one of your siblings or children, only to find out later that it was the exact same moment your brother or child was in an automobile accident? Have you had strong hunch to leave a particular place and immediately you left something terribly happened there?

Those experiences are called intuition. We’ve all experienced this kind of intuition, but unfortunately most of us don’t trust or pay attention to our intuition. For some of us our training, education and beliefs focused on looking outside of ourselves for the answers to our questions. Only few of us have had the training and belief to look inside of us for the solutions of life’s problems.

Most successful and highly accomplished people are people who have developed their intuition and trust their gut feelings and follow the spirit of God in them to guide them.

As Steve Jobs said; “You have to trust in something – your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever. This approach has never let me down, and it has made all the difference in my life.”

We are also told in the bible about the workings of the Holy spirit- how it bears witness with our own spirit, our He reveals to us things to come and things that would happen to us.

There are so many ways our intuition communicate with us. You get a message from with as a vision while you are praying, or dreaming. It can come out of the blue or it can be long. Our intuition sometimes speak to us as a hunch, a thought, or a voice actually telling you YES, NO, DO IT, OR NOT YET. It might be a resounding word, a short sentence, or a lecture.

Also it maybe through our emotions- feelings such as uneasiness, concern, or confusion. Of if it is positive you get to experience the feeling of joy, euphoria,or inner peace.
If we want to have the success we crave and work for, then its important we make time to listen to our intuition – through meditation, prayers, studying the word of God, creating relaxing moments in our lives.

Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you saying, “This is the way; walk in it”

Isaiah 30:21…But you must learn to trust and listen to the voice

Am I Better Today Than Yesterday?

Real achievement doesn’t happen overnight. As anyone who’s trained for a marathon, learned a new language, or run a successful business can attest, you spend a lot more time grinding through tough tasks than you do basking in applause.

Here’s something you can do to keep yourself motivated. At the end of each day, ask yourself whether you were better today than you were yesterday. Did you do more? Did you do it well? Or to get specific, did you learn your ten vocabulary words, make your eight sales calls, eat your five servings of fruits and vegetables, write your four pages?

You don’t have to be flawless each day. Instead, look for small measures of improvement such as how long you practiced your saxophone or whether you held off on checking e-mail until you finished that report you needed to write. Reminding yourself that you don’t need to be a master by day 3 is the best way of ensuring you will be one by day 3,000.

So before you go to sleep each night, ask yourself this small question: Was I better today than yesterday?

What Others think About You Is Irrelevant

A lot of us have failed to advance in life, or pursue our dreams at some point because we lived on other people’s opinions, worried about what people may think about our actions. The truth is most of the time, nobody is thinking about you at all. The people we are worrying about are too busy worrying about their own lives to bother about us. And the only time they think about you, they are wondering what you are thinking about them.

If having others believing in you and your dream was the requirement for success, then, I would never accomplish anything worthwhile. We need to base our decisions about what we want to do and achieve on our desires, plans, and goals. Not the goals, desires, opinions, and judgements of our spouses, friends, parents, children and colleagues. Its never about them, it is about you and what gives you joy. Quit worrying about what others think about you and follow your heart.

The 18/40/60 rule by Dr. Daniel Amen says;

At 18 you worry about what everyone thinks of you. At 40 you don’t care what anybody thinks of you. At 60 you realise no one was thinking about you anyway!

With this realization let us quit thinking and worrying about what others think of our relationships, our jobs, our looks, our income, our marriage choices. Let us spend that energy and time thinking about our goals and our to make our lives better.

Make a Man Fall in Love: 27 Things to Say to a Man/Boyfriend/Husband

I just finished reading “Outwitting The Devil”, a great book by Napoleon Hill. It is a book I think you should read too if you want to own your life and be successful.
Here are Napoleon Hill’s 10 secrets to a successful and free life FROM “Outwitting The devil”:

1- Do your own thinking all the time. The only thing we have complete control over is the power to think our own thoughts. “As a man thinks in his heart so he is.” Take control of your life by thinking for yourself.

2- Decide what you want from life and create a plan for achieving it. Also be willing to sacrifice everything else if necessary, in the pursuit of your dreams rather than accept defeat.

3- “Every defeat comes with it the seeds of opportunity”. Analyze temporary defeats and setbacks no matter the nature and cause and extract from it the seeds of opportunity. When you fail, don’t stay down get up and try again.

4- Be willing to render useful service equivalent to the material things you demand of life. Always render the service first.

5- Recognize that your mind is a receiving set that can be tuned to receive communication from God, to help you transmute your desires into their physical equivalent.

6- Your greatest asset is time. The only other thing outside the power of thought that you own outright, and the one thing which can be shaped into whatever material things you want. Spend your time wisely. Do not waste it.

7- Recognize the truth that fear is a filler with which the Devil occupies the unused portion of your mind. It is only a state of mind which you can control by filling it with faith in God’s word, and in your ability to make life provide you with whatever you demand of it.

8- Pray do not beg! Demand what you want, and insist on getting exactly that with no substitute. “You can ask for anything in my name and I will do it” (John 14:13).

9- Always know that life is a cruel task master, it is either you master it or it masters you. There is no compromising point. Never accept anything from life you do not want. If that which isn’t your desire is temporarily forced on you, you can refuse it in your own mind and it will make way for your desire.

10- Remember that your dominating thoughts attract their physical counterpart. “Above all else keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it is the wellspring of life.”( Proverbs 4:23)

What exactly are you thinking? Why? To what purpose? What are you desiring? What do you have faith in? Yourself and your right to wealth? As Napoleon Hill has said, create an ideal, form a plan, affirm its reality and persist until it is made manifest. Know that you are given the power to create what you desire. Then, just do it.
“The world we have created is a product of our thinking. It cannot be changed without changing our thinking.” — Albert Einstein
