Daily Wisdom: Today Is An Opportunity

Opportunities do not come with their values stamped upon them. Everyone must be challenged. Today comes to you just like the other days; in it is a single hour, like this one you are in now, it looks no different from the hours you have spent; but in this day and in this hour the chance of a lifetime faces you.

To face every opportunity of life thoughtfully and ask its meaning bravely and earnestly, is the only way to meet the supreme opportunities when they come, whether open faced or disguised.

Live your greatest life!

Most people complain that their everyday life isn’t interesting. Nothing special happens to them except on some special occasions where they have something to celebrate or mark. Their days are just so-so they claim.

Yet these individuals forget that life is measured and tested in the “everyday life”. Anybody can do well on special occasions. Anybody can do good on Sundays. Any person can be nice and sweet in the midst of gentle influences. Anybody can perform acts of heroism once or twice in their lifetime.

And all these is good, but you must realize that what you do with the ordinary days is the real measure of your life’s character and value. You cannot neglect your ordinary days and expect to have a great year. Often people say “I have had a bad year”, “I haven’t achieved anything worthwhile this year” etc, without realizing that it is 365 days that make a year, and when you don’t take care of those days, you will miss out of the year.

Nearly all the world’s best work is done in the ordinary days, the every days. Too many people have missed of their opportunities because they neglected the common tasks and assignment before them, while looking for big ones that will come on special days. Daily Wisdom

Do you find yourself waiting for all the ducks to line up for you? Or you always want to see things perfectly before you set out? You may be missing out on so many opportunities that God has brought your way. In relationships, business and general success in life, opportunities do not always come with their values or worth stamped on them.

Everyone is challenged, and yet those who will succeed are those who are able to find the opportunities inside those challenges. And this requires having a different mindset; to realize that each new day, like today presents to us a chance of a lifetime which we must recognize and seize.

To face every opportunity of life thoughtfully and ask its meaning bravely and earnestly, is the only way to meet the supreme opportunities when they come, whether open faced or disguised.

Daily Wisdom

“…yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes.” James 4:14

Friend life is lived in the present. There is no moment like the present. Never put off living or doing something until tomorrow because it is often much difficult and stressful to do the work that has been put off! “Now is the only time that we have. It is our only negotiable currency. Yesterday is a cancelled check. Tomorrow is a promissory note. It is only today that we may spend in the noble effort of using all the gifts that God gave us.”

Think Forward, Move Forward

oldest runnerWe have been told in the Bible that “we have a goodly heritage”, “a hope and a future” a glorious future, yet many of us after months and years of hustling, striving and pursuing our goals don’t seem to be getting any nearer to living these promises. What then could be wrong?

For some of you, if you really want to be, do or have this glorious existence that has been promised us, you must leave your past behind. One of the reasons why you are not making it now is you spend too much time in the past. Friends except the past inspires you to do things better and work smarter, you must stop going back to relive it.

Be done with regrets over missed opportunities, seeming failures and bitter disappointments except they serve to warn you of their reoccurrence. Be done with thinking about “what might have been” or “what might have happened”, “had I done this and that” and think only of what shall be or what shall happen. “This is the day the LORD has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it.” – Psalm 118:24

“Each night I go to sleep I die and the next morning when I wake up I am reborn again.”  —Gandhi

Each day is a gift from God, and the best way to live it is with rejoicing and gladness just like the Psalmist said. Receive this day as a special gift from heaven, an opportunity for us to be reborn and begin our lives again. If you see this day as a gift, you will treasure it, and not waste it on unproductive activities. Never allow the pains, hurdles, handicaps, and defeats of yesterday to poison your attitude towards this day. Never allow the words, actions or inactions of others to cast a pall of gloom and defeat on the entire day. This day is too precious to be wasted on thinking about the hate, jealousy and envy of others.

Sometimes it seems as if the 24 hours allotted to us each day isn’t enough to accomplish all tasks at hand, and so we tend to always be in a hurry. Continue reading Today: God’s Gift For You

Why Not Act Now?

The world is filled with people who live in tomorrow. People who believe that it is easier to act tomorrow; that by tomorrow they will have been perfect, or the conditions will have changed, and so on. They forget that no matter what we do, where we do it, or when we start, we will never do it perfectly.” The time is never right for anything, just as the Bible says; “whoever watches the wind will not plant; whoever looks at the clouds will not reap.”

No writer started out writing bestsellers. There is no artist whose first work was a masterpiece. Everyone who is doing great work or things now, didn’t do so at the beginning. They started doing small things until they became great. Every master was once an apprentice. “Before a salesman closes that big sale that puts him on top of the world for weeks, months, or even years, he suffers dozens of disappointments, rejections, and refusals”…but he never allowed those rejections to keep him down. He just kept knocking on the next door, and to the next, until he got his big break.

Having known this, we should stop striving for perfection, rather we should always put in our best efforts no matter how imperfect they may be, because “it is always better to try to succeed and fail, than to try to do nothing and succeed.” We also need to understand that our best efforts may not always be appreciated; there are people who will laugh at us, criticize us, mock us, scold us, jeer us, but not to worry, even Christ Himself suffered these things. No matter what we do, there will be somebody out there who wouldn’t be pleased by our best efforts, but our goals shouldn’t be to please anyone but to just do our best NOW. Every Day Counts

How you live each day determines how you live your life. It is very easy to take our days for granted, waste them away without achieving anything worthwhile, because we look into our calendars and see we have three hundred and sixty-five whole days. This number may appear large, and it is easy to get caught up in the trap of thinking that this day does not matter much given all the days that lie ahead of you.

“But a great life is nothing more than a series of great, well lived days strung together like a beautiful necklace of pearls.” Every day counts. When a day is gone, you cannot get it again…gone with its opportunities and blessings.

Folks let us not live our lives like dry leaves being tossed about by the winds. Take charge of your life. Live more intentionally, deliberately, purposefully and passionately. Don’t allow life to act on you, and steal your days away.

Our lives is broken into days so that we could learn our life lessons effectively. As it is written in the Bible: “Teach us to number our days carefully so that we may develop wisdom in our hearts.”

Live your greatest life today!
