What Do You Do When Things Get Tough?

What do you do when things get so tough? I guess this is the question most of us get to ask. Especially in my country right now, with things getting so tough by the day; so much uncertainty, increasing inflation and falling value of our Naira and so on.

I mean everyone is affected by these things, it reminds me of a telenovela back in the days titled “the rich also cry.” The past months have been challenging for me also, struggling to get my radio programme started, and not having the funds to bank roll it.

What do I do? Sometimes I almost quit. I mean in spite of all the positivity and books, I still find myself almost falling. But what keeps me going? I think about the reasons why I am on this path, I think about the people who support me daily; my wife who loves me dearly and I fight!

I keep fighting even though I am weak. I keep trying to take the steps forward even though they are small steps that may not be too far. There are days, like last when I can’t get myself to write any post or continue my other activities, with the bills piling up and I am being hard pressed on every side and just then I will get an email or a comment from someone about how much my work inspires them and all. Words like that may not be much, they may not put food on my table, but they fire me up hold on and keep pushing no matter what.

Other days like today, I look up to God and what He has spoken about my life and work and I am rest assured that He who has spoken it is faithful to complete it.

What do you do when things get tough? Kindly share your thoughts and comments below. Thank you!

Daily Wisdom: Lack Doesn’t Make You Poor

A person isn’t someone who has little but a person who wants lots of things they don’t have and feel bad about that fact. Most people think about security in terms of what they have; their house, job, investments, savings, family etc.

But true security comes from God. When you realize you can lose everything, and still have that inner joy, then you have the ultimate sense of security, peace and freedom. When your security is on the money or things you have, your security is lost the moments those things are gone. Cant you see how many people get depressed, take their own lives when the financial markets tumble, or when their other treasures get lost.

Today put your security in God. When you do, all illusions and fears leave you, you become blissful and totally free!

Daily Wisdom: Happiness Is Not In What You Seek

What do you want in life? Most people want the same things. Financial security; health; a lover; feeling fulfilled, safe, secure; etc. When you really think about all the things you want and then ask why you want them…you will end up with wanting joy, happiness, peace, contentment and a feeling of deep love, appreciation, and being totally 100% accepted.

The truth is we all want positive emotions and to feel good/blissful/happy all the time, and so we think that having some things or conditions will give us these feelings/emotions we so deeply seek. They do not. So, how do you get all the things in life you want and the positive feelings/emotions that are the root of all our desires?

While many books, teachings and courses, seem to offer formulas and secrets to happiness on earth, whatever they offer isn’t lasting. You too may have had the experience of investing some money into a program and book only to realize the old feelings of frustration and emptiness found their way back after a while. Daily Wisdom: Your Trials Have a Purpose

Lots of people complain about the difficulties in their lives and they wonder how they will handle them, or why they can’t have a trouble/challenge free life. If you find yourself among this group of people, I want you to consider this;

A mighty wind blew night and day. It stole the oak tree’s leaves away. Then snapped its boughs and pulled its bark, until the oak was tired and stark. But still the oak tree held its ground, while other trees fell all around. The weary wind gave up and spoke, “How can you still be standing, Mister Oak?”

The oak tree said, “I know that you can break each branch of mine in two, carry every leaf away, shake my limbs, and make me sway. But I have roots stretched in the earth, growing stronger and stronger since my birth. You’ll never touch them, for you see, they are the very deepest part of me. Until today, I was not sure, of just how much I could endure. But now I’ve found, with thanks to you, I’m so much stronger than I ever knew!”

Be thankful for everything in your life, and know that you all win in the end, because God’s word says “For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.”

Podcast Episode 9: Be Content With What You Have

It isn’t for nothing that the Bible warns that we should be anxious for nothing but in all things with prayers and supplication we should take it to God. You will agree that for most of us we have the challenge of always being dissatisfied with ourselves and what we have, and this often leads to anxiety and depression.

It’s easy to look at your life and tend to compare it with others and what they have achieved, and begin to feel bad and sad. Most of us have this attitude that the grass is greener on other people’s lawn.

If you find yourself struggling with this attitude, then you should listen to this inspiring audio which discusses contentment and how a lack of it tends to slow down our success and spiritual growth.

I encourage you to share your thoughts and also share this audio with someone, it may make all the difference for them.

Daily Wisdom: Practice The Golden Rule

The Golden Rule says Do unto others, as you want them to do unto you. The word DO actually means more than do, it also means think about, wish for etc. So think about others, wish for others and do to and for others what you want them to think about you, wish for you and do for or to you!

Whatever you think about, wish for and do to others you will in time receive yourself! Many times we forget this when we treat others poorly and because the results of our thoughts and actions don’t come back to us instantly, we often blame the devil and fate or bad luck for all the negative things happening in our lives, when actually it is the golden rule at play.

Let the golden rule guide your thoughts, wishes and actions toward others. So love your enemies. Praise your enemies. Ask God to bless your enemies with all the things you want God to bless you with.

Jesus said, what you do unto the least of my brethren; that you do unto me. Think about that. Life can be easy. Feel joy everyday no matter what and without exception. Feel unconditional love, appreciation, understanding, acceptance and compassion for everyone without exception. Continue reading Daily Wisdom: Practice The Golden Rule

Daily Wisdom: Happiness Comes From Within

3.jpg

Nothing “out there” or external will make you happy and feel secure, but it sure appears or seems that way! Happiness and security is ultimately a choice, and comes 100% from within. It appears that attaining things brings you a feeling of security and happiness. Things like money, success, a car, a vacation, a lover or relationship, another person, a good job or boss or business, etc.

It seems when you attain or acquire your desires, when things are going well or good, you feel happy and secure, and when you lose these things; your lover leaves you or you lose your job or all your money, you feel sad and have fear to some degree.

When you realize that you can actually be happy and feel secure anytime, anyplace and regardless of the conditions or situation, spiritual goals become a prime focus instead of trying to attain material possessions or get something.

Set a standard to take 100% responsibility of your life and happiness and seek the spiritual and the things of God. When you do this, the results are you are happier than ever in your life and feel more secure than ever and you do get all the things you want anyway! People sometimes are frustrated with their current situation and unhappy about things in their life. What you should do, is know that you caused it and you can change it, with your thoughts! Also, you must understand that there is a time for everything and you should enjoy the moment no matter what. As doing that will change it for the better faster anyway!

Remember there is a time for planting seeds, a time for nurturing and cultivating the soil, a time to pull weeds, a time to water the plants a time for harvest, and a time to enjoy the fruits of your labour!

There is a time to rest and a time to work. There is a time to prepare, train, plan and there is a time to execute your plans and go to battle. No matter where you are and what your situation is you can be happy and fulfilled knowing that the season is going to change and this moment is all you’ve got and there will be none like this. Do it! Enjoy it!

Our Worst Enemies are Not Outside, But Inside of Us

The world has been thinking wrong. We think our greatest enemies are people from other tribes, religion, colours, nations; people who don’t support us, our competitors, or even our family members who are not doing as much as we are. And this thinking is responsible for the hate and negativity we spread.

On the contrary, our worst enemies are not outside but inside of us. Every human being harbours a traitor who is always on the watch to thwart his ambition, to cause failure for his efforts. That traitor is doubt.

You must realize that no matter who you are, or what you do, you will always be followed about by certain mental enemies, mental traitors, which will try to dissuade you from doing the best you can or achieving your dreams whatever they may be. Doubt is one of the most insistent of these.

I think of my life and how much more I would have achieved if I hadn’t doubted myself. While its easy to point out blame to others who didn’t support us, or who doubted our success, we often doubted ourselves first before others, who saw through us began confirming our doubts.

In my case I have always dreamed of inspiring people and helping overcome their setbacks to achieve personal success, yet I doubted if people would want to listen to me; I doubted if my personal experiences of failure and success were enough to share with others.
